Hello folks, I love you all!

Taming pets out in the wild is fun and exhilarating and very rewarding when all that patience pays off, but when you just want a cute little companion who happens to be able to rip the head off a malkloc, you just can't beat a BE pet hehe

Anyway, I have the odd BE pet that I picked up here and there, and they always served me well. But, after reading some of the posts on here today, I was simply amazed by some of the pets people claimed to have made! Level 23 pets with light armor?? That is just incredible. And it sounds like alot of work too, but then that is the fun part....when all that work results in an outstanding creature

I just made MCH a few days ago, and a fellow CH in the guild had told me about this great BE razor cat she had picked up and was just waiting to tame (lvl66 pet and she had not quite hit master). I didn't have any wild pets over 50, and it seemed like a good idea to get a really good high level BE pet, so I asked her where she got it. So long story short I went to his vendor and was very impressed with his pets, so much better than I had seen on a vendor before. Very cheap prices I thought too, I bought a lvl70 cat with 13k ham, AP1, 42 kinetic, 60 energy, 100 heat/cold/electricity, 14 stun/acid, with knockdown as the only special. Then I bought a 60 gurreck with AP1, 60kin, 50 energy etc etc hehe, I just wanted to buy them all! Only about 100k each for his best pets!

Then I got to reading on the CH boards about how the devs SAY CH is a combat class, but if so it is sort of underpowered (and most would say that is putting it mildly). And then I got to reading the post here about the best pet specials. And of course, I read about how awesome some of you are at making "super pets" hehe. Now, my other profession is bounty hunter. I have always found this to be a great combination, my weak defenses are unimportant when I have a monster protecting me

So all this got me to thinking, 3 really good pets, lvl23-4. decent ham, and forget light armor but have either average resists across the board, or each pet has 2 or 3 really good resists (so no one damage type could quickly put down all three pets). Then mix in the specials: one pet with dizzy and crippling strike, one with intimidate and crippling strike, and one with stunning strike and something else juicy. Now, I come up on my mark, or pvp target, and tell my pets to attack. I also use a macro that tells my pets to use special attack 1 with a small pause and loop it. I also make a macro that doesn't loop, and tells them to use special attack2, which I use once when dizzy hits (and yes, I did read the post that says if you use posture down ona knocked down target it will get up right away, but if they are both issued at the same time hopefully that won't happen...and really, what are the chances of both posture downs landing? Maybe neither one lands).

This gives me several advantages as a BH in pvp: first of all, if I have the advantage of surprise, the target is more likely to be overwhelmed by three pets on him at once, and will buy me those few precious extra seconds to knock him down. Even if the pets don't knock him down, they have hopefully applied some states that will help later on. Now, at the start of the fight I can come out guns blazing and hope my pets knock him down or keep him flustered trying to get the right target, or wait and see if I should make my own dizzy/knockdown attack. And if it is a melee class, I can kite and spam special 2, with the odd posture down helping me stay out of range Also, while it would probably be crazy.....this could help with fighting jedi too. Alot of BH on our forums talk about applying alot of states to jedi and kiting, letting them wear down their force on curing states. I think since the pet nerf and high kinetic resist armor, people have learned to ignore pets in pvp and kill the masters first. In every pvp fight I have been in except one, they come straight for me and ignore the pet. The person that went after my pet first died shortly after, having giving me all kinds of time to knock him down So, the pets aren't going to get killed right off the bat even thougha lightsaber would make quick work of them, and an extra bonus is that the jedi won't be wearing kinetic armor, so I will be getting some free damage from the pets

So ya, my question is, do any of you think that a BH/CH combo, with the right pets, could actually be a niffty little surprise in pvp? And do any of you have suggestions on what those pets would look like. You all know better than I do what is possible with a lvl23 pet (is light armor, with low resists but very few vunerable resists possible?).

My thoughts are that pets for jedi and pets for regular pvp would be different in two main areas: damage and resists. The jedi pets would want to have highest damage and ham, and forget resists since they can block a saber anyway, while the regular pvp would want good resists and damage could be very low, since not much damage would get through armor anyway.

Thanks in advance for your feedback, and if any of you play on Ahazi and want to talk about it more shoot me a tell I'll be looking for someone to help me make these triplets, or maybe even twins, so I can test this theory out

pets as they stand are worthless in PvP.All they're good for is sticking states, as they suffer the PvP damage reduction but dont get the same protection themselves. Any good PvPer will know to ignore the pets and go straight for the owner, anyway. BH and CH are both generally held underpowered in PvP right now =)

As for your pets, triplets are a common request. You dont need a slew of resists if you're just going to use the PvE, 60% kin and maybe energy resists are all you'll really need. AR1 is of course a must. Resists, the best way to go is stun/cripple intim/cripple dizzy/blind, so you can hit your targets with 2 DPS reducers and a dizzy, then knock him down and blind him to reduce his accuracy. KD right now wontwork for pets, and poison/disease is too slow to matter in PvE.

Thanks for the replay Droid. Yes, pets have the reputation for sucking in PvP. Yes, they do 25% damage but take full damage. Consider though that pets have 3 times the HAM of even a buffed character (assuming average character has 3k HAM and pet at 9k, which was what a BE was making his triple pets at on another post). But, even with them only doing 25% damage...there are 3 of them....plus you are right, they are mostly good for states which is exactly what I wanted them for. If that is true that pets can't posture down then that is really crappy Still, the extra chance at landing dizzy, plus the other state effects, just makes my job that much easier. I don't think i mentioned it above, but my other idea was 3 pets that fairly large... taller than a person...so with 3 pets around him it would be hard to even see. And also, IWANT my targets to ignore the pets and come after me while the pets keep applying the states....but once again that sucks if they can't posture down, what's up with that? Is it intentional or a bug?

Obviously there are better templates for pvp than Bh/Ch...but there are the profs that I like and I am trying to make the best of them And one other thing, I don't understand why everyone is so down on BH in pvp!! The other reason I can think of is that it used to require so many SP so you could not really have much else with it. But BH rocks. Yes, we have to melee defense. So what? A rifleman has more, but is still going to lose if he stands toe to toe with melee. I fought a fully armored, buffedmaster TK/ master swordsman, and I had no armor and no buffs. Just ran around, popped some food and knocked him down twice (**edit** got up first try both times hehe, but was all i needed to get some distance between us), kept eye-shotting till he was down.

Anyway, I love CH and I love BH and I also like PvP, so even if I don't have the "uber template" I am still going to have fun pvping, and I'd like to use pets as a unique twist since I never see anyone doing it anymore, and I just think it would be great fun

Something to keep in mind with PvP is the HAM to damage ratio. Yes pets have a lot of HAM when compared to players, but when you look at players damage out put it is clear to see why pets are just not effective.

Player - AR1, 80% kin, damage 500-3000 depending on special and weapon. Attack rate 1-2 sec.

Animal - AR1, 60% kin, damage 100-300, attack rate 2-3sec.

Players can cause up to 10x the damage and attack at twice the speed. That 3 fold extra HAM on a pet just doesn't match well against a 20 fold damage rate of the player. Throw in accuracy bonuses, damage medigation and dodge/counterattack bonuses and you have a very nasty animal in a PC that can take out a great dune kimo solo. That is why pets suck in PvP against everyone save for a noob in the starting artisan clothes.

The nice thing is they took out vitality loss so when your pet goes down in 5sec while not even getting a scratch in, you don't get that sting of decay.

FYI...
I was on Doth last month, and Had My LVL 1 Rnacor out and my lvl 24 and lvl 38 Woolamanders out at the outpost, a Master Fencer asked me if he could fight my Rancor, I said no, but then agreed, if he would then fight the other two.

He agreed.

He made short work of the Rancor, but the other two he couldn't take down.... See the 24 has a 11k HAM 420 DMG 42KIN and Blind and Intimidate and Ranged attack. The 38 has Light Armor, 54kin 440 DMG, and Double Stun.

I stood and kept the specials flying and he fought them for a couple minutes when he said stop, and I stopped and we ended the duel, He thanked me and gave me a big tip.

He was fully buffed with no armor, I had his Ham down a fifth of the way, and he had Stun down to about half. The specials held him back.

I moved to Corellia I have no vendor and I don't know the coords to my house, but it doesn't really matter cause all my pets are in the tool box, I may have some in space, but that doesn't really concern you either.

It should also be remembered that 80% Kinetic is twice as effective (all otherthings being equal) as 60% kinetic and with AR1 will your pet doesn't have AP weapons, but the "player monster"...
