So, I had this backpack full of MH (Merek Harvester) DNA. So, I decided to make some pure clones and do some generational work. I made one and got four samples out of it. Made another one and sampled it. So I'm going generation to generation getting lower lvls each time, keeping the 60% kinetic all the way. I must've gone through approximately 15 generations. Since I ran out of DNA, the resultant creature landed at lvl13 and I didn't want to risk getting only 3 samples from him so I stopped there. This project was inspired by some pets I saw in a BE's shop. Lvl10, 10k Health, strong poison special, 60% kinetic. Trying to mimic it, but instict tells me he was using bugged DNA. Most of those pets were nearly identical in stats. My lvl13 didn't come close to his HAM at all. Clickie

Thanks for sharing.
I was wondering if it was possible... seems like I won't try it, so I can save time and good DNA ![]()

The recipe(s) on how to do this has been posted many times. I think Voke was the first to post such a thing, and I've seen essentially the same recipe reposted 3-4 times since. I've never bothered with this myself, but it seems pretty easy. Just use merek harvester (i.e. bugged dna), stack vulnerabilities, lose the armor, and you'll have something CL 10 with 60% kinetic, andup to400 damage. But it sounds like the key is just making sure you have a vulnerability to everything except kinetic, and that you are using harvester. Only 3 generations as I recall.

In what way is merek harvester bugged?
who knows, but Harvester is pretty unique in that it is armored, but has so few (only one) "special protection" which happens to be the one that everyone cares about (75% kinetic). So it likely has something to do with that.

Seeing as I have a decent lvl10 pet already, I"m going to try this monster and see if it will happen with me. Friday night, I was shopping in corellia for a stim vendor and stumbled upon a room full of these creatures. Either lvl9 or 10 with the same characteristics. I was intruiged to say the least. I'd like to have one in my lab for show.

Knowing how overpowered these pets are, I wouldn't imagine ever selling one to a client. I've received requests for one a few times but responded the fact it is possible but is due for a fix. So I send them to my vendor for powerful legal lvl10 pets with 6k/3k/1k HAM.

I saw the recipes myself. However, ignoring such recipes were the only instinct that I had at the time. See, the thing is, I've been told that my business has a good name, I'd dare not ruin that good name for the thought ofgaining aquick buck. I'm not a person with a hologrinder mentatility, and prefer honesty when dealing with other players.

I prefer to think of it as a rare and desirable characteristic rather than a bug.

The fact that harvester has those characteristics isn't a bug, the fact using such dna results in a creature with CL 40 stats that is unfortunately considered to be CL 10 most certainly is a bug. And I've yet to see anyone make one of these without harvester dna.
Anyhow, here is the original thread to which I was referring:

Ah yes I see what you mean and I agree. I just interpreted "bugged DNA" as meaning there was a problem with the DNA when, as you say, the problem is with the system.
I remember that thread. Quite interesting.

Whats the fortitude on this beast?
If its pretty near 500 then you could probably get away with MH - 1st - 1st - CBD - 1st

Well, I made the little monster. I was quite impressed with the lvl10 outcome. I believe I'll use it with my combat toon as a meat shield until it gets nerf'd. I ended with 59% kinetic though, oh well.
