The FAQ has tips and info, and from the FAFAQ:
This is an approximation of the highest CL at each skill level
Novice BE -> CL 12
DNA I -> CL 23
DNA II -> CL 34
DNA III -> CL 45
DNA IV -> CL 56
MBE -> CL 75
So depending on where you are in sampling, look for creatures that are the appropriate level.

when i sample most of the time it doesn't work and i am sampling like verlts and rats on coriilea am i missing something should i be using somekind of tool or something or is it just like that?
No tool is used and you'll fail more than you succeed at novice.
Do make sure that you have space in your main inventory. At this point, you'll always just get the failure message if your inventory is full. I imagine that Publish 10 will fix this, as it will allow an overloaded inventory (but takes away your ability to move once you are full)
