Thread: Pet Sample Issues
I can't speak for pre-Cu as I'm a new/respec MBE/MCH at CL 57 but I spent 3 hours on Dathomir successfully getting DNA from CL50 up to CL75and a few reclusive shear mites which may have been CL80 but I can't remember. I found that being grouped with a CL 80 helped me out extrememly well. After about 90 min I had to leave group to allow room for grinders. Anyway, while grouped I was getting agroed less frequently and seemed to take less damage from the same mobs. I can't say about DNA harvesting itself cause I could successfully get DNA from the CL75 malkioc (sp) before and after grouping, but they were non-agro to begin with. While grouped I didn't actually get viable DNA from the bull rancor but afterdropping from groupI couldn't even get close enough to attempt to sample before he broke maskscent.
The success rate is all over the map. I could get 6/10 samples for a while, and then 0/15 for a while on same mobs and same grouping status. But persistence pays off I found.
Good Luck.

Thank you for all your help. It is begining to make sense now. I was sampleing CL 80 creatures and failed
Be prepared to fail many many times on 71-75 level creatures too... I was trying to sample a cl 75 Malick.. and I never did get my samlpe after 10 tries... My head hurt so I went for a walk... and sampled 68-72 level creatures instead.... LOL my head felt much better....

I've sampled fromt he odd lvl 80, but usually only from missions, maybe the sampling uses the base wild spawn level of the creature to determine success rather than the level it is boosted to for missions.
I just find it frustrating how you could sample almost anything. Even then it was tough to make consistent pets. It's even worst now.

Even in the old system you were never able to duplicate exactly a crafted pet.
Chart your creations, noting where you put your xp pts and how many you used. It won't matter which creature's DNA you use now (VD/VD/HP/HP/HP) since the Creature Level is the determining factor (CL30/CL30/CL4/CL4/CL4).
Once you find something that you like, or that sells, use that as your recipe. Your results will generally fall into the same range (little things can throw it off like difference in crafting tools, crit fails, etc.) and you will have a pretty consistant pet.
Yeah, that's true, but we had such a wider range of DNA. Now things have been changed and we need to start over. I'd say 20% of the creatures we use to sample are off limits now
