Thread: Whats the point in BE again?
I thought it was going to get better with the mounts all being our craftable clones, esp with the proposed lvl 10 cap on non ch's and our kaadu being a 10.
But no, they have created lvl 10 versions of every mount spawning babies everywhere.
Explain to me again why I should bother collecting samples for half an hour when I can tameten wild ones inthe same time, with less risk, using no expensive crafting materials and be able to sell it to non-ch's as well as ch's?
We have ZERO market for anything but petstims and you have to be a doctor to make decent ones
This is another Master BE thats rapidly losing interest in this tacked on half class that has to compete with hundreds of CH's instead of supplying them.
And no i'm not having a go at CH cos i'm a master CH as well....they're just two classes trying to do the same job - CH does it easier/better
You read a number of threads in the CH forum regarding creature handler dabblers. For the most part, the high level creature handlers do not care for the dabblers. What gets me is, with this new mount industry, BE dabblers have popped up all over the place. A lot of them are creature handlers with mount trainingskills. The BE dabblers could care less what problems we have in this profession. They just want to mass produce kaadu and dewback.
Bio-engineering was a poorly planned profession obviously. It could have very easily been split between the medical profession for medsand the creature handler profession for animals. Rare and hard to obtain items such as milk or eggs or fishcould have been ingredients for tailors and chefs to boost their products on their own.
Bio-engineers work in a box. We are surrounded by creature handlers, chefs, and tailors. We can not create and sell a ready to use product directly to an end-user customer with the soleexception of pet meds. We don't make anything that can't be dublicated by another profession with the exception of tissue enhancements...if you can find the ingredients.
Bio engineering could completely disappear without much of an impact at all. And, SOE doesn't seem to care a whole lot.
We dont just sit around healing something, making it better, we go around and genetically manipulate it to make better.
We dont go around making a colored hair gel or some ink to color something, we create a virus substitute that will grow the appropriate color, and besides when it comes to us, everything we make is bio-degradable.

OK on to the game talk though....yeah we are kind of getting a face slap with the creature mount stuff....
But then again, did you notice a few things in the latest patch?
The Elephant type creatures now have a speed increase....yes thats right we can build those...
And guess what, if they get enough of a good speed increase they might be better then the mounts out there right now.
Another thing to consider is the fact we can make Rancors and Gurrecks....perhaps just perhaps we will someday be able to ride these things.
No I admit the process and promises that where made for the proffession seam to be never going to happen right now...but I cannot, nor should any truly serious bio-engineer give up hope.
There are still many possibilities out there....I just hope they dont make the Droid Engineer to much better.
I am sorry I realize technology is great and all, but a Bio-Gentic creation has one thing over a machine....it can replicate itself and repair itself.
Machiones take way more power and cost alot more to repair becasue of this. And following the Star Wars Technology curves we see no droid could regenerate.
Perhaps maybe the developers could make our creature we make heal faster...or perhaps they could make our creatures able to take cybernetic attachments....both of these options woiuld make what we build far superior.
I mean just think, a Sludge Panther is nice and all, but what if we could add a laser harness to it.
The quote: "Sharks with frickin laser beams" comes to mind.
You see, it would be just plain cool to be able to do that.
And our proffession should be able to.
Its too bad we cant make more poisons and diseases and cures, that could be used by combat medics....that would fit our proffession..
Oh well...maybe when the cities get cloning centers our proffession will be required to operate them.
And then we will be able to pick and choose who we will clone.
Yeah I know thats griefable, but everything can be griefable to some extreme.
Plag you're funny...

We're the BASF of the SWG universe.
