I have failed 6 for 6 so far, but it could just be (very) bad luck.

ive failed multiple times and died to to it against:

• Ancient rancor


• Enraged rancor


• Bull rancor


• Mutant rancor

So no, its not just you

Gnarled rancors are the best I've managed so far. Starting to really regret messing around with all the mutant rancor dna I had from before the patch :-( although the pets came out over cl 70 so they may not be much use when they are grown

might be a bug, like when we got the dna sampling change that did away with the blurrg missions on endor?

2 big patches ago i think it was.

wouldnt it be just the sickest joke in the world for them to pull? they fix our cloning line but stealth nerf our dna sampling so we cant make anything too uber ill finally get to play again in about 2 hours, i sure hope i can sample all the critters i was planning to sample for my new pets.

At last - confirmed success on amutant rancor on the 7th try (as a master BE). Got an above average sample but it is definitely possible. Just very very dangerous - 100 mask scent and I still get detected a lot.

yes on enraged, no on mutant.

Despite bugging my may through all the rancors i still couldnt get a sample off any of them! And by bugging i mean making them attack me and running away, as soon as they stop you turn round and sample and they just stand still while you do it

I have been using a similar technique - just the one success so far though. At this rate pets made with mutant rancor DNA are going to be somewhat expensive, if I ever sell any at all. Just making pets for my PA will keep me busy for weeks.
