Thread: My intial thoughts and ideas on the new clone system
The models now are largely for show it seems. Some models such as the gurreck model, are intrinsically fast, and that may be a consideration in picking which to use. Other models can be mounted. Other than that, the HAM, resistances, and specials all seem to come from the DNA. I wonder if models have basic cowardice in them still, IE do rontos tend to run alot now? Or is that AI derived from the dna and not the model?
I suspect CL now is
CL = (dnalvl1 + dnalvl2 + dnalvl3 + dnalvl4 + dnalvl5)/5
I think it is really pathetic they dont stamp the DNA with the CL, since that is the overriding driver now. Our rep should be all over SOE until they do this. If we actually sample the DNA we should be able to determine CL, we are scientists after all. Having CL as an unknown on a piece of DNA is bad design, and we are forced to tab out and hit some website for a CL on it...fix this yesterday, please.
I used 4xdwarf nuna DNA = 3+3+3+3= 12 and I think CL22ish dna and got a CL10 bol. I need to test this smor more, the math isnt working out. It was a nuna from tattooine, maybe my CL is off on it. What I found out here was the specials of the non dwarf nuna dna were imparted to the template. The resultant bol had 2000ham and around 1k action/mind. So you can take lowbie DNA and sprinkle in some exotic to get the specials of the exotic and still make the NCH cutoff. I am thinking the spat models may be a hot seller, since the can be mounted and have the net fastest gallop speed as well as fastest speed over long distances.
I suspect what you will see in dabblers will be mastery of lines, IE
CH4000, CH4400, CH4440, ....
This is because as you go up a line the point cost goes down, and the pet levels go up. SO I think the new breakpoints for marketing are going to be
NCH = CL10, zero skill points
novice CH = CL12, 6 skill points
CH+1 line = 12+2+2+3+5 = 24, 6+5+4+3+2=6+14= 20skill points
CH+2 lines = 36 = 34skill points
CH+3lines = 48 = 48 skill points
MCH
With the specials in the taming line (taming 3 gives attack 1, taming 4 gives attack 2), I suspect the CH 4000 build will be the dabbler/pet user build. I am thinking of stocking the vendor with NCH pets, CL24 pets, a sprinkling of CL34/48 pets, and the high end master pets.
Pet pricing is all in the crapper. SInce you can not convert yard trash into blurrgs, wild sampling becomes important. I do see that crummy clones may be stored or sampled for their DNA later, IE say you got a great kin resistance clone that has crap HAM, you could probably sample that for the resistance later. Because way more field time is involved per pet, I see prices going way up.
Showrooms are going to be bad. With all of the new models, there is no way to display them all in a medium house. I suppose a faq will be necessary now with links to web pages for the models. Once I sort some of this out I am going to have to cut a noob pet faq just to impart basics to the usual inquirys. Looks like a lot of work is in order on the fansites for creatures.
I think our profession is going to be a bookeeping mess. You will need to know all of the stuff in the field and what its resistance and CL is as well as specials, then somehow sort all this stuff in an intelligent manner in order to deal with it. I think instead of sorting by dna pair attributes, Ill just have backpacks of DNA sorted by CL, since this is going to be the main driver.
I am confused on armor and how to get it on a creature. Is there a hard cap on no armor for CL30 or less? How much of your DNA must be armored to impart armor to the final product? This is going to require some testing.
There is so much to learn here, too bad I got to travel on business for the next 3 days.

One thing about level, though, is that the ((1+2+3+4+5)/5) formula doesn't work. I tried 5 samples from a normal Womp Rat for (10+10+10+10+10)/5), which, of course, should have been 10. The end result was actually 16. I think that quality of the DNA and possibly experiments affect the final CL, but as you say if we can't see the CL of the template we don't know.
Pricing is all over the place.. I've been selling my experiments for anything from 20k to 40k, and these ppl buy it which makes up for my travel, insurance etc..
My experience with armor, so far, is that at least 4/5 samples have to have AR1, and even then it may not come through. To get it to show up you will need to experiment into the Physique profile.
