Thread: Looking for something new.
1) BE takes a ton of skillpoints for a crafting prof.... MD, MBE leaves you with 18 skillpoints.... not good. IMO the fun part of BE is using the creatures you make. 18 points isn't enough to get even novice CH.
2) The community is ok... a few grumps, a few new folks. Alot of secrets now that the pet creation system is so bizzare, but the details (and the bugs) in the system are being hammered out.
3) Its very challenging, and sometimes frustrating. Be sure to keep records of the creatures you make, especially at first. The pet market is alot smaller than it was before, but I haven't had much trouble. I am a power player on christmas break still... had 0 credits a week and a half ago, and have made a sick amount since then (more than a million creds).
4) I have alot of fun with pets as a 1-1-1-4 creature handler... I get to play with CL 30-ish pets, and as far as I can tell, there isn't much difference between a decent CL60 pet and a great CL30 pet when you are talking about tankability. That said, you are about 38 skill points short of MD, MBE, 4-4-0-0 CH.
Master doc and master BE do sort of go together because you can make your own advanced components. This helps a lot when it comes to making high level pet stims and vita packs.
I gave up doc and master medic for creature handler skills when mounts were in high demand. That isn't the case anymore but the CH skills I have are of great value to me now. I sample high level mobs and all I have is a scout blaster. My CL31 razor cat with light armor is my greatest asset.
This forum fluctuates just like all the forums do. There was a time when every post was a rant of one form or another. Most of this stemmed from lack of information from our BE dev. Actually we received zero info from him. The mood has lightened up considerably now. The holo-grinders get beat up when they ask questions which is unfortunate but understandable. On the whole, I've found this forum to be interesting and enlightening.
Animals are the challenge now. Trying to come up with a DNA combination that creates an end product which is marketable can be fun and frustrating. Tissues are a huge money maker but they are factory run and don't take a lot of thought. Place resource here, experiment to the max, place in factory and let bake for a few hours. Out pops a box of tissues. They do provide a steady source of money so don't discount them.
Good luck on whatever profession you choose. If its BE, welcome to the community.
Okay here's the thing. After a brief distraction with the cursed holo chasing I am looking to settle down and play the game for fun again and looking for something new to try. I have always been a Master Doctor one of the first things I headed for, closely followed by master Combat Medic. I got tiring though, the inability to hunt for resources and having to buy all the stuff needed etc. In truth I tired of it dropped MCM and went holo hoping. At that point the game changed for me it wasnt fun anymore. So here I am looking to put the fun back into it.
SO the questions:
- Is Master BE viable to play along with Master Doctor or do you require other professions to run Master BE that will make keeping Master Doc impossible.
- Is the community helpful and willing to assist and answer questions through forums such as these?
- Is it challanging and is there a market for the product or is it dieing with the loss of many Creature Hnadlers changing profession.
- I am making an assumption that I would need to be a Master Critter Handler to use the BE critters as well, atleast the good ones anyways - is that correct ?
I would like to do something that not many are doing at the moment and wouldnt be in it for a holo chase - maybe just looking for a career I will enjoy....
Thanks for your time in reading and thanks again if you reply.
