I'm starting the holo grind and i am feeling like it will be a long boring process. So I was hopeing that some Bio Engineers would assist me by telling me the Items that they find appealing and enjoy about the BE Profession. I think I have an open mind and maybe I'm just not working on the right BE items.

At first I though of just running one of the Macros to complete the profession and move on but now I'm thinking I learn more about it.

Any Help or suggestions you could give me would be great.

You won't enjoy the profession through grinding, that applies to all professions but most of all to Bio-engineering. It can be something you can grind through with petstims or tissues however the really fun side of the profession simply cannot be ground out with macros, it takes time, patience and a true understanding of what your doing. On the whole alot of us here don't welcome you holo-grinders, we've suffered alot to move things forwards and it's more than just a little sickening to see people only join the profession because it's another step on the ladder to their FS slot. It's like your using the profession just to get to somewhere else and yet folks expect the community for the profession they're 'using' to welcome them with open arms and openly help them to get through it as fast as possible so they can drop it. Sorry but it doesn't work that way, we're here because we love the profession not because we were told to master it.

There's a topic pinned on the forum to help with grinding, I'd suggest you read it.

Hmmmmmmm.

I think you missed my point.

I was going to just grind thtough the profession as fast as I could but then I started to have a little fun. I am a CH so I can see the benifit of tougher pets. But I was hopeing the BE community would be tolerant and Help a person that was thinking of halting the grind to explore the finer points of the BE profession.

But....... So far all I get is Hostilities.

Its not really hostility but I can understand why you might see it as such. The true hard-core BE that has stuck with this profession from the beginning can be a bit jaded when it comes to holo-grinders. We've had tissues for professions that didn't exist in the game. We were required to collect resources that were removed from the game. Our animals we less then average on the whole with a number of them being merely furniture pieces. We even had to suffer getting aggro'd 100% of the time collecting DNA to make our less than average animals. Our only value to the community was as veterinarians.

That's all changed. This profession has come a long long way and has taken a long long time to get to where it is now.

If you are truly interested in what a bio-engineer does and how we contribute to the community now I would recommend making various animals. We used to make cookie cutter animals. Now they are all unique. No two BE animals are alike. Sample anything and everything you see for DNA. Combine those samples and experiment as much as you can. Make notes of your results. Crafting animalswill not getyou to master BE quickly but it will definitelybring out the Doctor Frankenstein in you.

I've taken up the profession because of the last patch and what I saw as an opportunity to have a little more fun.

I'm also a MCH, so I know where your coming from.

Here are a couple of things I've done since I joined the BE profession:
1. Ground down BE Technologies - no one here can tell me that getting that skill to rise just from crafting is much fun. So Grind I did. Why? Because I wanted to make somewhat useful pets.

2. Sample DNA, lots of it, looking for that fun combo of dna to make a pet with. Sampling doesn't have to be boring, I enjoy it a lot. It isn't much different from going out to tame that baby who's momma's going to eat you if she catches you. Only now, I take the DNA not the baby. Interestingly, you can complete missions this way without firing a shot - if you still have your pets. It's a new challenge.

3. Make babies! Or at least practice making babies. It's the most fun thing I do in real life, and it's pretty darn fun in game too. I have three lvl 20~25's growing right now that I just can't wait to hunt with, each with their own combo of special attacks.

4. Stim packs, Vitality packs, They sell well. I still buy them when I don't have time to craft them myself.

Of course, the number one thing you should do is have fun with it.

Hi, I hope you do. BE is one of the mroe challenging proffessions and hence has a lot to offer. I'd suggest reading through the various guides and posts by MBE's like Sumorex and Tal-N. There is a lot of good data out there if your willing to search. I'd also decide what facet of the proffesion appeals the most. Most of us right now are fixated on the cloning system because we have been waiting and salivating over it for a very long time. It is definetly a good start down the Dr. Frankenstein path. However there are other options. You could fixate on money and go straight vet. You could decide to be the consumate business-person. This involves setting up lots of agreement. Get a good supplier chain going for organics and medical sub-components. Get a few chef/tailors to sign up to buy your goods. Enroll a few merchants to sell both your goods and those of the chef/tailor. You can do very well in this way. If you like just collecting DNA then get together with another BE who wants to do the business side. Search the universe for DNA and bring it back for the other BE to work on. You have a lot of ways you can try to play your character and there are probably several topics on each of these in this forum. If you avoid the H* word you can even get some friendly good advice.
