Thread: Rookie Bio-Eng Frustration with Pet Creation, Help!

I've been goofing with bio-engineer for about 2 weeks but I'm having real trouble figuring this out. Recently, when I make pets labeled level 10, when called the game refuses to allow them to stay level 10 and makes me level them up. I'm in business solely to create working level 10 pets. Can anyone give me a general sense of what is legal?

Is there any way to sell a pet on a vendor once it is called? That way I could sell pets once I'm certain of their level. I don't want to sell people illegal pets, and as a non-ch I can only carry two pets on me at a time, so a vendor is really my only viable sales option.

This profession seems like it could be really fun and challenging, but I'm beginnig to feel overwhelmingly frustrated when the level given during the crafting process doesn't stick once the pet is called. I don't want to create monstrosities, just nice level 10 pets with fun special attacks, or a nice resistance, or decent ham bars. But I can't seem to do any one of these things without the game yelling at me.

Okay, that's enough whining on my part. Next question: some other threads have indicated that a pet could be considered legal when called, but then grow to be illegal. Is this a possibility that I have to worry about? Could a pet decide to "outgrow" its stats?

Finally, does anyone have any customer service advice to offer? How do you convey to your customers the risk of buying a BE pet? I imagine that I'll have to have a money-back guarantee. Any suggestions on how to avoid abuses while maintaining custom satisfaction?

Thanks for any input!

Eviena, you have hit upon the most frustrating single feature of the bioengineering profession--and after only two weeks of work. It isn't your inexperience. It's a basic game flaw. No one knows exactly what is considered an appropriate level 10 pet. The crafting process was released with the flaw of being able to kill the creature level without killing the important stats. The "fix" was to declare the pets as "invalid," making the owner completely unable to call them. Untold numbers of pets were destroyed earlier in the game because the game had rendered them invalid. Several bioengineers were accused of cheating by angry pet owners. The assumption was that they were using a game bug to produce pets. In reality, they were mearly trying to optimize a very complicated crafting process.

As it is now, no one really knows how CL is calculated, or what makes it legitimate. Some truly hilarious posts can be found in this message base about 300 HAM pets that were declared invalid and tanks with a mysterious non-CH level were left unscathed.

You can't redeed a pet, and vendors will only sell pet deeds, not tamed pets.

So there is no answer to your predicament. But in it, you can enjoy the company of some of the most experienced BE's in the game.

My solution? Refund the money, and give the pet to a needy friend who can handle the resulting CL. The only consolation is that non-CH pets are a great way for a novice to make some cash from the profession.

Easy question first: No. once you call a pet you cannot put it on a vendor/bazaar. You can only sell pet deeds on these.

As for making legal non-ch pets. The combination I've used in the past that works (and has been posted here before) is Voritor Dasher, Voritor Dasher, Huurton Pup, Huurton pup, Huurton pup. Put one point into physical andone into mind. Should create a low 4K (or high 3K) health, mid 2K action, low 2K (or high 1K) mind, 10ish% kinetic, and 70ish damage pet.

If you're making pets that are deemed illegal let us know what you're using and what their final stats are so we can help.

You can use a variety of combinations with voritor dasher. The most common of course is the pups. I've used venom filled arachne, noxious kamarith, even rancor youths. The DNAplacement I use islike this:

VFA, VD, VD, VD, VFA

You can replace the VFA with NK or RY. Feel free to try other animals of your choice. Experiment to level out the HAM. I use the dexterity as my marker. I experiment to get hardiness just slightly above dext. I experiment the psych to the max and make a gnort. look at the stats of the gnort. You should have some type of kinetic resist and vulnerable to everything except blast typically. If you still have resists in energy you may want to resample the gnort and combine it with voritor dasher again. If the resists are vulnerable to everythingexcept for kinetic and blast you're ready to make a CL10. Use the gnort with yard trash. I've used domestic eopie, minor worrts, lesser womps. Yard trash is yard trash. The final combine is:

G G G YT YT

G being the gnort I made and resampled. Experiment on physique but don't get carried away. One point should do it. You're just trying to get the health higher than the action. I use 200 as my marker. If I go above 250 I've typically over shot the mark. One or two points in mental to balance it out with the other stats. Again, don't get carried away. You should get a CL10 animal with 4K HAM pretty flat across the board, a teenish to 20 kinetic resist and some rocking specials. Typically strong poison with a ranged attack. The rancor yoot combo will give you knockdown. These animals are all valid. Its stupid and makes no sense but its "working as intended." Just ask your CSR.

I forgot to mention you want to experiment the psych to the max in every case.
