Hello
I am new to Bio Engineer and I am finding it hard to understand the best way to make pets. I do not understand how the whole DNA process works, what is good DNA? is it the Very High name it is given or is it the stats? what does each stat relate to?
Currently I have been asked for a lvl 10 pet, the lvl 10 pet that the guy has is way better than what I can make and my one comes out at lvl 17.... how do you get the lvl down and make the pet better?
If anyone can help me or direct me to a site that can it will be very much appreciated.

Some useful links =)
Making a BE Pet
DNA stuff
There was supposed to be a link to a recipie thread on another forum here, unfortunately that seems to be giving 404s atm.
DNA Lab <--- Useful to check what combines your DNA will give
The first two links I got through the FAQ btw. *points at the stickies*

Read through the FAQ, then make some pets for a couple of weeks and take notes. Then read through the FAQ again then make more pets. Do this another time or two. Each time, you'll learn more than the time before. Getting a feel for what goes where to give a certain result and figuring out just how far you can push a recipe or when to modify it and what to modify it with don't come quickly.

This isn't like any other crafting profession where the ingredients are written out for you and you just have to get the best resources. Here you have to play around with the game and see how each part of the game is effected. Start with low level DNA such as starport junk and then work your way up some levels so you can adjust to how the creature reacts to being jabbed with a needle, locating them and using them in templates. MAKE NOTES. Oh how I wish I made notes when I started out. I tend to remember a lot of it now but unfortunately after a long absence I cannot find my old recipe book which means that my new one only has 3 in it
. Write down your experiences with experimentation and do before and after stats so you can see how it works. The FAQ will get you started and tell you how each slot effects the final outcome. If something's too complicated then stick with the basics. You'll get it, it'll just take a few weeks. Once you have grasped the FAQ, I suggest reading my pet research thread (stickied) as it will give you advanced concepts in the creation of pets.

I'm surprised noone's just "said it"....
Practice.
Other professions, it's a simple issue of getting the best resources, a 12-pt suit and a couple of amazing successes. With BE, in order to get a good feel for the profession you actually will have to do quite a bit of practice, and as you make more and more pets you'll get a better and better feel for the nuances of the profession and how to make what you want. If you're having trouble getting started, try the links already listed, learn to love www.swgcreatures.com (every creature, with all but a couple listed for resists and almost all listed correctly in terms of cl, resists, dmg, etc.), and then my only other suggestion would be to learn to love endor. so many times you'll find yourself as one of only 5 or 10 people on the PLANET, but you'll find more than what you need.

I'm sure there'd be an E-Bay Jedi wondering where all the Black Sun went.
