I sent this messaage to lammergeier

Man, a lot of BE's have been posting stuff, the bugs they have encountered (which have been repeat posted like 50 times) and there frustrations about the profesion. A LOT of people say the profesion is not fun anymore, simply because of these problem, And mostly because of the lack of feedback from the DEV's. I don't think it would be to much to ask for a little incouragment from them, even if just to know that yes there is light at the end of the tunnle. In all everyone including myself fell as though our plea has gone unheard. People are becoming unhappy and some even are leaviing the game. I don't want to leave nor quit BE. I am even willing to wait for a fix but we all deserve to feel heard and to get a response from the Devs. So I ask you please help us feel heard, help us understand what is now unkown. Show us the light.

This is truly how I feel, and I think most of my fellow BE's feel this way as well. Please show your support, help me get some info and give hope all the BE's out there. We can only hope that the DEV's see that there lack of response is having a very negative effect on how fun the game is, and not just to BE, but for all who feal like things will never be fixed.

Lammergeier will be doing the best job possible. However you must realize the fact that while the Correspondents have a better voice to talk to the devs, it does not mean they will answer or get to it right away. The concerns of all of us have been sent on by all of the correspondents per each profession. Don't blame them, it's not their fault. All we can do is wait. I know it can be frustrating, I've been here a long time, as have others. Their only real job is to be our ambassador to the devs. So give them a break. The devs already said they were looking into issues.

Lammergeier,

We understand that you have nothing to do with the Devs not resopnding. The sound of silence is very frustrating.

I'm tired of being chained to the factories, I want to go out and craft pets. I have 5 orders for CL70 pets now and several for mid level pets. While there are some work arounds, and I've tried them, I want it fixed. Just a word from the Devs would help keep me happy...for a while.

Wow if only the DEV's where so informative.

Thank you very much lammergeier , I really appreciate you taking the time to give such an infromative response. You are doing what youcan, of which I hade no doubt, and I at the very least appreciate that. I will try and make more effort to post some of the bugs I have encounterd, and wait. You said it best though.

biwan:I wish I had news to report... but I'm not the only link in the chain of communication. I'll be reading your feedback, I'll be organizing it, and I'll be presenting it. the responses we're all waiting for don't come from me... they come from the devs. biwan:

I and others what more news from the DEV's on whats being worked on. We just feel like we got put on the back burner, and they forgot to turn it on, if you know whatI mean. My hopes for my message to you where that the DEV's would get the message, that people want to hear form them, they like to hear that there problems are in the works, and yes you have to reasure them that new info is getting to them. Otherwise people get frustrated. I deal with my frustration by telling everyone how I feel, and trying to be heard, others just leave, some talk crap and make threats. I figure that tis is the best option, saying "Hey DEV's, Listend to ME"

My hopes are that you, lammergeier, can help me be heard, and mabey, just mabey teh DEV's will start communicating with us a little more. and I say again Thank you Lammergeier.

Just a little perspective here is needed.

  • There have not been any dev posts in this forum in '05 or '04 (then again this is very typical of the crafter's forums except in times when there is a major revamp underway).

  • The devs were kind enough to give us short answers to some of our more pressing issues a couple weeks back (whether or not we were happy or satisfied with their answers is another topic however). That is a veryinfrequentoccurance. Last time that happened was back in summer of '04 I believe, and before that it was Fall of '03. If this becomes a common thing in the future, that would be wonderful, but there is no reason to expect that it will, particularly if our response to such answers is entirely negative.

  • There is a protocolto how players and correspondents are allowed to bring issues to the devs attention. When a correspondent artibrarily decides that not enough is being done, on his own initiative or from pressure from his community, and goes outside that protocol, well, if you have been watching the armorsmith forum over the last month you'll know what happens.

Now, that said, although I think there is some validity to the sentiment that BE's get ignored more than other crafting professions, it is also important to realize that if you visit any of the other crafting forums right now, take your pick: droid engineer, architect, armorsmith, weaponsmith, chef, etc, they all feel like they have "game breaking" issues, mostly caused by the CU, and are in need of immediate answers to.

So anyhow, the point that I'm making here is the information pipeline has always been pretty slow, and there is no reaspon to expect this will change. Lammergier is doing all that he can, as much, and in some cases a lot more, than other corrs are doing. I still have access to the corr forum (for now) and can vouch for that. Also, if you you've brought an issue to his attention, and he's indicated that he's brought it to the devs attention, and you want to know the status on it, there is almost a 100% probability that he too is wondering, and waiting for, the status on it. There is no way to expedite that process.

Seriously, the best thing for all of you guys to do is to continue to collect data in areas where data is lacking, and provide that to him. Other than that, you just need to make your own decision about whether or not you are having fun playing bio-engineer, and make your play decisions based on that.

Thanks for the reply psychopyro80

I hear you and very much agree, I sent this message to lammergeier, because like you said he would have a better voice. By any means don't get me wrong I don't expect the DEV's to fix everyting all at once, I just want a little more feedback, you know. I have looked into a lot of posts and as far asI can tell most people feel like they are not being heard. By no means am I putting anyblame to lammergeier, or any other corespondante for that matter. I would like the DEV's to give more feedback. They have a message board, they could let us know whats being worked on, or even better reply to some of the Hot Threads once in a while, even if to onlysay, "Yeah we know, we are working on it," although a little more info would be nice, anything is better then nothing. We do pay monthly and I am sure SOE is making a killing, I don't think it would hurt to make the players a little happier buy at least letting us know whats going on. If I am out of line let me know.

I got your message.

the problem is... I don't have coffee with the devs. I don't get to meet them at the bars after work and talk shop. I don't get to call the devs at work and ask them for updates. in fact, right now I can't even test code on TC... it's about six versions behind Live.

here's what I CAN do:

I can collect the issues facing the profession (there's a sticky up top for that).
I can present these issues to the devs (the key here is: PRESENT them... I can't force them to respond).
I can wait for an announcement to come from the devs.

here's what I've DONE:

I've read a lot of posts. I've responded to a few, where applicable.
I've re-stickied the forum to reflect the CU changes.
I've made a list of the issues facing the profession (if you have something to add... check the stickies).
I've presented some of the more urgent issues to the devs.
I've read a lot MORE posts.

I'm waiting to hear more than the dev response on 5/02/05, which was during ArthurDent's tenure.

here's what I'll be doing NEXT:

I'll be waiting for dev responses.
I'll ask the devs for permission to report these responses to the community.
I'll post these responses as they become available.
I'll keep reading a lot of posts.
I'll update the list of issues with community feedback. I'd like the list to be as comprehensive as possible before I submit it to the devs.
I'll present the list of current issues to the devs.
I'll wait.

while I wait, I'll be working on a comprehensive post-CU FAQ for the profession. until we see some fixes, I won't be able to write a final draft, since the 'state of the profession' is still in flux.

what am I doing RIGHT NOW?

I'm playing the game. I'm testing, I'm offering feedback on bugs, I'm communicating with other players ingame.
I'm also cruising the forums. some of my posts are in the private correspondent forums... you won't be able to see them. however, you can watch my post count rise, and you'll see that I'm still hard at work.

what can YOU do?

read the stickies.
provide feedback on the stickied threads. my job is a lot easier when I don't have to chase TEN (last count) threads about cloning and DNA problems on the first page of the forum.
test. document. post.
read my introduction sticky. I'll be using it to let you all know what I'm doing, as inane as it might be.
click on "lammergeier". click on "find all posts by this user". keep an eye on me.
have patience.

I wish I had news to report... but I'm not the only link in the chain of communication. I'll be reading your feedback, I'll be organizing it, and I'll be presenting it. the responses we're all waiting for don't come from me... they come from the devs.

Arthur the blue glowie:

Seriously, the best thing for all of you guys to do is to continue to collect data in areas where data is lacking, and provide that to him. Other than that, you just need to make your own decision about whether or not you are having fun playing bio-engineer, and make your play decisions based on that.

Actually, I would disagree with this. Collecting data, while useful and aids the Devs to make the game better (as well as giving Lammer more ammunition to shoot at the incredibly misty Devs), I feel is not the best thing to do. This is what I think the best thing to do is:

1) Decide if you still want to play a BioEngineer. In the time since the CU came out, I've noticed a very sharp decline in the appearance of certain names that I grew to know somewhat well prior to the CU, when I was regularly trolling these forums. I even saw NancyJ post once or twice... I think... it's tough to be sure when you can see the wall through the blue glowie. I interpret this as some people either respec'ing out of BE, something I'm considering which was utterly unthinkable to me prior to the CU.

2) Decide if you still want to play Starwars: A Galaxy Divided. This piggy-backs on #1. If you don't have fun playing a BioEngineer, then is there any other profession you do have fun playing? Are there people you play with regularly that you would still like to talk to, hang out with, and plot the overthrow of (Empire or Rebellion or Hutts or RSF) with? Can you still have fun doing something different? And is the amount of fun you're having worth the $15 a month many people spend on this game?

3) Irregardless to the answers for #1 and #2, are you truly upset by the CU? Or perhaps the feedback process? Are you so frustrated with the process in place right now that you would like to go to FanFest and picket? I don't recommend that, BTW, nor do I recommend going to Star Wars Weekends at Disney MGM and getting close enough to George Lucas to demand your money back. Both of these things, as well as yelling at the Devs, will not help. Lucas doesn't exert direct control over SWG, and neither do the Devs, correspondents, Tiggs, or Garva. If you find that the CU, or the process that SOE used to introduce the CU, upsets you so much that you have to drink some chai, take a valium, and do progressive muscular relaxation objectively answer #1 and #2, then I recommend you consider investing in first class postage and doing a little research. SOE and LucasFilms, Ltd. (owner of LucasArts)are both companies with corporate headquarters. LucasFilms is a privately held company, but you can send them mail. SOE is a division of Sony, which I believe (not sure) is a publicly held company. The upshot is, SOE might be more responsive. However, spend the two letter's worth of first class postage. If it upsets you so much that you feel you must cancel your accounts, include this in your letter. Write cogently, concisely, and express your displeasure concerning the game. Cute as Tiggs is, she doesn't control the development process, and she doesn't coordinate the high level strategies in play. Everyone at SOE and LucasFilms, Ltd, and its subsidiaries, are bound by the corporate structure they exist in. This doesn't bypass the Correspondent chain; it is a seperate avenue open to any consumer with any company. It's the same avenue of complaint that people use with shampoo, chips, and even television stations. If you're unhappy witha product or service being provided, let the company know directly that you are unhappy. Don't demand answers, don't demand fixes, just tell them that you are unhappy and perhaps general reasons why you are unhappy. Don't email. Don't PM. Spend (in the U.S.) $0.75 and an hour to get your message to somewhere that it might alter the corporate thought process.

4) Don't jump down Dev throats... the only person I've ever seen post that might actually be in a true decision making position didn't even keep up their blog for very long. They're also usually busy making the decisions and plotting the course for the game, and might not even understand some of the technical issues. The average Dev and Mod are good people... Tiggs is even cute. GreenMarine and SW-Goliath have made some of the best posts I've ever read. They want to make the game better, but they have to follow the plan they're given and work the way they're getting paid to work. They also can't tell you anything about it, because if you think the NDA for the betas was tight.... research a "yellow dog" clause in most software development contracts and associated documents for those people working as software developers.

Now, if you answered yes to #1, and # 2, I would say that while you're playing, continue to give Lamm help in uncovering issues. Because if the Devs can, they'll work on those issues. And Lamm will keep giving the Devs updates on our concerns. But the Devs have to meet their deadlines, because I'm sure they like to live in a shelter and put food on their tables. Just like all of us do.

And look on the brightside... at least you've never had an Error 132 problem. Or been told that your RAM is overheating, and that's why you're having problems.
