I'm finding out quickly that with just about any BE, you can not get to CL80. This makes no sense. We need to be front line with creature MOBs. We are needed for base runs. Why does SOE think this is a good idea? This is actually the only thing that's really bugging me IG right now.

I am M BE / M CH and I have been for quite some time. I don't think we need to be in the front line with creature MOBs... unless you are sampling first and then running away. If that is the case.. run and let someone else pull the hate from you. Works great with powerful pets... let them hit a bit while I run and the then I help out from afar. MOst mobs don't come after me since the pet has done most of the damage.

Yes we are still need for Base runs... but once in a group your level goes up the highest in the group... and once again you will need to use tactics to make it through the battle. Taking down a base has never been easy.. and always depended on organization, tactics and working together.

These principles of being smart has not changed since the CU.. it just re-enforces the point. I actually find I am faring very well in the new system of combat... I was actually able to hold my own along side my other combatants while in the village during the Phase 4 onslaught of Outlaws and Pirates. Yes I did less damage since I do not have any special attacks with my weapons, but between me and my pets I was able to bring down NPCs on my own, during the raid.

These are my opinions and subject to change/flaming/and oh wells!!

We're not creature handlers, that's why we are not in the front lines with creatures.

BE is more of a scientist, occasionally going out in the field to get some samples of the wildlife.

Then why do Doctors get CL level? You can't have one without the other. We are front line because we need to sample. And, no matter what you say, we will suffer greatly in any base slicing. Yes, grouped we are level 80m but the health difference itself will be a huge crutch. No other base slicing member will be below 80, so why should we?

Then why do Doctors get CL level?.....

---------------------------------------------
Because they had to do something with the profession after they completely nerfed it...As a Doctor I am all but useless...can anyone say combat level dependent stim packs...

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, 'How can we do this and not make another EQ?' We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen." - JULIO TORRES

Well I have a Doc toon and I had no problem getting my Master Pike. As a doc, why do you need stims? Use bacta shot, it heals faster and is unlimited. The reason for making docs dependent on combat was to stop AFK macroing. I don't have a problem with it now that I tried it. Actually the XP is even better than before. I've had to make several trips to the village a day do cash in the XP. You just have to un-learn how you play the game.

The first time I ground out Medic and Doctor, I got almost all my xp following people around in combat healing them. I called one of the guys "My Med XP Bot" he needed healing so much.

Yeah, a BE is needed to take down a base. A lot of fun when you get the time right. I've only gotten to take 1 base down, all the other times the base wasn't vulnerable or the defenders showed up in mass under the old TEF PvP rules. Hard to figure out how to do it when someone is shooting you and the guys on your side never seem to protect the BE.
