Hhahhaha laughing my butt off at the 15 mutant rancors all kicking each other's rear ends.

One of them has to win, and I'm gonna stick a needle in him.

If we are to believe Darwin (or his Star Wars equivalent) this one WOULD have the best stats of them all.

I had the pleasure of watching a fight like that the other night. A bunch of Rancors (was either Mutant or Enraged) got upset when I rode through them. I guess one got a bit touchy about it and dropped an AoE that got his friends but missed me

When the AoEer got down in HP's he made a run for it and edged them all over towards some Malklok Plainswalkers and then it was really on for young and old! The Malkloks won in the end

Hehe, isn't that fun? I love heading over to rancor valley and watching the bigger rancors fight like kids stealing each other's toys in the sandbox. Actually somewhat simpler to get DNA from mutants this way instead of sneaking up on them, IMO.

I had a similar experiment yesturday with a barkmite burrowers lair.

Naturally the burrowers themselves have an open wounds attack which is AoE, the maskscent broke and the dumb thing used it when i was well out of range. That was just the start of it as around 2 burrowers and 5 workers all start turning on one another. Things got a bit hectic as the scrum slowly moved towards a nearby arachne lair and some warriors joined in. Meanwhile i was blasting their lair to try and get a queen to spawn and stopped as another mite appeared. Each one then quickly ran off to join in what was getting to be a 10+ animal scrummage half way between the arachne lair and the barkmite lair. I figured I'd throw some petrol over the fire and ran off to a nearby group of latern birds. I quickly pissed a few of them off and dragged them into the scummage The frame rate dropped like hell as you had around 4 latern birds and god knows how many bugs in there now all ripping each other apart.

lol

while you're waiting for one of them to emerge victorious, you should shoot them each once with a gun. that way you get loot rights to their bodies. 200+ meat from each of them. and remember to loot. rancor bile is useful to combat medics. :-)

watched a nest of tmb fight the latern birds after i got one mad sampling him it was fun until the hill top gurrecks got involved and dragged the swam everywhere.

Heheh Tal-N, months ago there was a bug with Mask Scent if you were a Ranger (I was Wayfaring III back then because it was before the changes to MS/camo). If you were MS'd and got agro from sampling, all of the critter's buddies would jump him when he swung at you. At first I thought it was an AE causing it, but the same thing was happening with creatures that didn't have AEs. This was back when the areas around outposts on deathplanets literally had a ring of death surrounding them. Mobs packed in so tight you could almost walk stepping only on creatures or lairs.

I wish there was a way for me to take a screenshot of the carnage that ensued. Must have been 100's or creatures fighting each other. And all because I got attacked for 1 sample

----

LOL I thought of Darwin right away while watching the 15 of them going at it last night. I actually ended up getting samples from 3 of them because they split up into 3 groups chasing runners.

-----

The 1 shot to loot/harvest bothers me a little. Doesn't seem fair. But then againNPCslove "helping" me withoutbeing asked. Somewhere down the road they'll prolly add in an EQ style 51% damage to harvest/loot on creature/NPC assists(already exists group vs group). If it could be done reliably on Krayts they would probably do it more quickly. It is borderline enough that I usually don't harvest/loot rancors that this happens with.... it lets me sleep at night knowing I'm being morally consistent.

---

Anyway, that was so much fun last night because I had 3 mutant spawns close to each other that I logged out in rancor valley. Hope the brack lair I logged by is still there so I don't die loading into the world today.

I've still yet to see a Rancor in the wild (Southern Dath, is that where these are?). I just moved to Dant though so I'm going to be seeing a lot more Frenzied Grauls in the near future.

The other day I was sampling a fierce picket protector and it aggrod and fortunately I still had mask scent on. I burst ran and ran by a lair of frenzied grauls. The grauls immediately ganged up on the picket and took it down, then I was able to sample the grauls when they were done with it, lol. Worked out great.

I forget the name of hte outpost, but its the northern outpost on Dathomir. Run west for 3 or 4km. You'll find alot of green grass fields on plateaus. More rancors than you can shake a stick at scattered throughout that area.

What i haven't been able to find recently is the hotbed of Grauls that used to be in the northwest mountains on Dathomir. Ran all over the northwest quadrant and found zilch for Grauls used to be they were the only thing you found out there.
