Thread: question about pet skins under new system
skins only affect the lvl of the pet. Some skins like the rancor are min 35 so no matter how bad the dna it will never get lower. Speed used to be affected by the skin as did whether the pet was considered aggro or not, I'm not sure if that is still the case.
So no, skins wont give your pets specials.

You can add in Ranged if you have DNA that has Ranged. I've had success placing it in the psych slot. Pre-CU it went into the mental slot. It is not a guarantee that if you use Ranged DNA you will get a pet with ranged capabilities but if you don't use ranged DNA you most certainly will not get Ranged into your template.
I know how we used to do ranged and such and have still managed that so far. However the others like posion, AOE and such are what I'm more interested in. I do know about the min CL based on skin also (been doing this since day 1 well okay 2003).
What I'm trying to figure out is if we can make pets equal to some of the wild ones. There are wild pets out there that have natural AOE attacks that dont seem to show as specials. If we cant due things like this then what about poison and disease when they function again? AT one point we could add these as specails tho I could never add AOE it seemed. It would be nice to be able to add these abilities to skins if they dont have that in mind already. With that ability our pets would be even more viable in the market as a CH would not need to find the right pet (most likely with wrong CL) to gain this inate attack.
Just Imagin Pink toxic Bunnies muahahahahaha, oh sorry about that .
