Thread: I think I found the correlation between Hardiness/Fortitude & Damage
Like any good hardcore BE and stat junkie I've been keeping track of almost everything I have made since the patch so as to better understand the new cloning system. I think I found the formula for Damage. My sincere apologies if I'm not the first to post this.
I have roughly 30 fully tracked and documented cloning processes from DNA selection to final creature creation. I was very curious to find out if I could better control the damage a creature has.
Apparently Fierceness doesn't affect the final outcome in the least bit. I had final DNA Template experimentation stats for Fierceness & Power turn out as F: 1, P: 423 on one template and F:103, P: 431 on another. The final Damage statistics were identical so that ruled out Fierceness.
It took some doing and I won't bore you with the details but my results plugged in and made sense for all 30-something experiments of mine. Basically, all Damage stats are rounded to tens and span no more than 10 points... 300-310, 480-490, etc.
Blah blah... I crunched some numbers (slow day at work) and figured the average Damage you would get with a final template Power rating of 382 would be 315 Damage.... or 310-320. The base multiplier is 0.8246 with each point of power worth 0.0000686. The formula looks like this:
382 (Power)x 0.8246 = 315 Damage (the game of course translates this as 310-320 Damage)
If you want to calculate what a creature's Damage rating would be with Power: 383 you simply add 0.0000686 to the multiplier (which is 0.8246).
Anyway, I suck at math something awful so I whipped up a quick Excel spreadsheet to do my thinking for me. It basically went something like this:

382 0.8246 =A1*B1
383 =B1+0.0000686 =A2*B2
384 =B2+0.0000686 =A3*B3
..... you get the idea. If you know anything at all about Excel you should be able to whip this up pretty quick. The "A" column is the Power rating, "B" is the multiplier, and "C" will give you the Damage rating your creature "should" end up with. I say "should" because the only abnormality was with a Damage rating I got as the result of an Amazing Success which, interestingly enough, turned out lower than it should have been.
Once again, if a number in the "C" column ends up 461.45 the Damage rating your creature will get is 460-470... duh.
I guess this isn't all too groundbreaking but I was excited at the idea of really knowing what my creature's Damage would be ahead of time and being able to experiment with my DNA template to the point of fine-tuning the Damage.
Please feel free to test this against your own results and post issues here. Again.. sorry if this kind of thing was posted already. I was on vacation from 12/19 to 12/27 so I feel a bit out of the loop here.

God I suck.
Try some low power creatures Wax... the break points are weird.. soemtimes a 5pt difference between min and max damage, sometimes 10pts.
I'll crunch my dataset with your numbers in a bit, I like the idea of an additional multiplier thrown in there like you did. I've been working up a different theory on producing the gaps using 3 simultaneous equations (hoping to explain the 5pt spreads at low power).
Will let ya know more how it fares against my data maybe later tonight.
