What do you think? My mount is not full grown, so I don't know what upkeep is like, but I imagine it is better then vehicles.

IMNSHO, no it won't. There will be a brief rise with Bantha's and Cu Pa coming in but don't expect to sell them for a high mark, but get ready to move them in quantity (if you have CH as well get a bunch already grown in various colors as non-CH variants). The market will be viable but short lived.

The only way mounts will become popular again is to increase their speed first, or relax the combat restrictions for CH riders. Swoops are by far the most popular vehicle, despite the fact they are extremely fragile and cost twice what it costs to keep a speederbike going on a day to day basis. This is because they are faster, andrepair costs are trivial compared to the perceived value of reducing travel time.

Mounts provide a much more stable base for surveying and I used my extensively for that. Unfortunately they all now will not let me call them anymore.

I think mounts are going to actually become less in demand that they are now. Right now if you are running missions with vehicles you must do this:

(a) hop in vehicle and travel to mission

(b) go out 50m and drop a camp

(c) call your pet, store your vehicle

(d) do mission

(e) drop another camp

(f) store pet and call vehicle

rinse, wash, repeat

Right now there is a lot of incentive just to get a combat mount and ride it to missions, or even walk, particularly with a group.

But soon you'll be able to:

(a) hop in vehicle and travel to mission

(b) call pet, store vehicle

(c) do mission

(d) store pet, call vehicle

much much simples, and much less incentive to bother with a mount.

One thing I do expect though is seeing a switch from swoops to speeders. The hassle and cost of running a swoop would be a killer if they weren't auto-magically fixed. Particularly when you spend time on advanced planets with no garages.

I bio-Bantha is the first thing on my list when the patch goes live. I just hope there are CH's willing to tame the things.

heh good luck on that. My policy when playing my MCH is "I'll train you for free but my will to train your non CH pet got nerfed right along with my pets. Think befor you cry nerf or stand back while others do it for you" all those people that cried so loud about CH being too powerful want their uber nonCH pets now and think I'll be happy to train it for em. I say tough if you want pets take up CH. I only tame/train for friends and guildies now.

To Upgrade something implies that you are adding too, enhancing, and fixing the thing that you are upgrading. The CU does not do this, it is not adding too, enhancing, or fixing the combat system that is in place, it is replacing the innovative SWG system with the generic one used by its competitors. Be honest and stop calling it the CU, Call it the CR (combat replacement) instead

An X36 is pretty cheap for just about everyoneexceptnewbies, even if you have to repair it. You can kill a few of just about any easy npc and pay that rent in just a few mins. You can do some artisan survey missions in a few mins and get enough money to pay for your speeder maintenance for the whole day.

I,for one, never have any intention to use a mount again regularly as a non-ch since their combat ability is far too weak to be of use on tough creatures and easy creatures die very easily without any pet to help. My vehicle travels much much faster than the mount and will easily save me 200 credits per hour just in the time saved travelling when I am using it. Even when I survey I do it in a vehicle because of the extreme speed and safety advantage over walking or riding a mount.

The only things that I could see that would encourage people to use more mounts and less vehicleswould be making more npcs and creatures that attack vehicles, requiring a lot more resources to build a vehicle, increasing the speed of mounts, or increasing the armor andHAM on non-chmounts..
