Thread: How Do You Price Stims And Tissues?

I've made a few batches of Pet Stim As (since the current Talusian Vegtable Fungus is aweful) with 34 charges and 547 heals. I have no idea how to price these things, so I just put one at 1250 and a pack of 5 is 6250. But I got that from a guildie, who didnt price Stims differently depending on charges/heals. What do you guys use as a pricing formula for stims?

And I'm just starting to make some tissues (good meatis so hard to find ) so how do I price those if I sell them on my vendor? (until a guildie makes tailor).

I have the same questions that is why I am searching the boards. I know how much tailors get for things they craft using our stuff but no one will list a fair price for cloth treatments etc for us to put them into vendors and bazaars.

I have a couple of thoughts on this in light of Sergia's post.

I have been charging between 3500 and 5250 for tissues depending on how good they are. +11 etc. are at the low end and +15/+16 at the high. I cannot keep them stocked.

I didn't know the resource requirements or important characteristics for clothing, so I checked out swgcraft.com for an example. I picked the Spec Ops duster.

The Spec Ops duster, it turns out, takes 2 reinforced fiber panels, 20 units of inert petrochemical, 1 unit of synthetic cloth, and 35 units of metal. Quality doesn't matter, i.e., you can use crap copper or chemical for this. The total resources for this are 56 Fiberplast, 45 Metal, and 34 Inert Petrochemical. 135 total resources. The three subcomponents can take up to 3 bioengineered tissues. So, for a top of the line duster, you're talking about 135 resources and 3 tissues.

Now, I have seen these jackets go for $30k-50k on tailor vendors with 2 mods in them. Low quality resources can be readily had for 3 cpu or cheaper. Thus, to produce this garmet, the tailor is out 405 credits for resources plus the bio tissues. At $5k a pop for the tissues, the total cost is 15,405. The tailor then works his/her magic and sells the item for a 100% markup.

Regarding advertising, harvester, and maintenance costs, we all have them so they are not relevant. Plus, if you are a tailor you are also an artisan and have surveying and can buy harvesters and cut costs further. Harvesters collect resources while you are afk or logged off. By comparison, BE's must buy or harvest a lot of diverse kinds of meat for most of our tisses. There is no such thing as a meat harvester, and even crappy meat often sells for 10cpu. Great meat that makes elite tissues can sell for 20, 30, 50, or even 100 cpu.

So, while the tissue is only a piece of the pie, it is BY FAR the most time consuming and expensive piece of the pie. If a tailor spends one tenth of the time gathering resources for clothing that I do gathering meat, they are seriously doing something wrong.

The bottom line, from my perspective, is how much you value your time. I am not trying to gouge people, but I am a capitalist and I am looking for the maximum return on time investment. My advice to you is to put your first batch of tissues/pet stims on your vendor and price them on the low side. Set up an advertising macro near a major starport directing people to your shop and see how things go. If, like me, they sell out in under 24 hours, consider raising prices. Another idea that works for me is to price certain items as loss leaders to get traffic flow going and the word out. For example, I price 557 Stim A's @ 500cr. I'm making small amount on these, but they take very little time (run out to a harvester, craft a schematic, pop them in a factory, put the finished product into the vendor) to make, and they drive traffic to my shop. Over time, people waypoint the shop and I develop clientele...or so goes the theory.

Good luck!

my stim forumal is simple..

If the HAMheal is over 1000 I use this formula: power * 10 = Price
If the HAM heal is Below 1000 I use this formula: Power * Charges * .10

I havnt had any complaits about my pricing system.. (FYI: I just fuffiled an order for 200 petstims with +1000 heal.. and hewas happy to pay cause he knew that he was getting good stuff)

Sounds like a good way to price, what must the power be for the heal to be over 1k?

A lot of BEs and Doctors charge stims like this...

Power times Charges divided by 10. So a 34/547 stim would run 1,860 credits. I sell using this formula, and can't keep them in stock. In other words, I could easily charge more.

hi

tailor from Scylla, regarding prices on crated tissues and what I pay, bear in mind that servers economies are sometimes totally different...

I have 4 main distributors, these are distributors who get me at the least 8 crates a week of high # tish, and are reliable distributors who always come through. The prices range a little bit, but avg between $80k and $90k per crate of 25.

Keep in mind that a tailor with a good business needs to purchase roughly 50k lots of fiberplast, inert petros, and steel a week in addition to the tissue they buy, as well as the usual factory, marketing, promotional costs as well...tish is only a piece of the pie.

Yesterday a BE Id never heard of asked if I was interested in buying tissue. After some discussion he offered me +14 bleed defense (mediocre) for $175k a crate. I told him nicely to fly a kite but did offer to buy whatever he had this once, to get him going, and to check the BE market and ask some BEs questions on pricing. Far be it from me to tell him what to charge, it's his business, but I can politely refuse to buy. Well this guy then proceeded to get rude, telling me he knows what I charge for my clothing and that Im ripping people off, tells me how I should run my business, etc

I will say that other than this individual, ALL the BEs on Scylla have always been very nice and professional. You seem to care about your craft, the way I do tailoring, and that's good, we could use more people like that in the game

So my advice to you is find some good Master BEs on the server you play on, browse their vendors, and find a price scale that you can live with. You can charge less, and build a good name for your company, you can charge more, and have good profit but might spend longer building a good clientele, or go middle of the road. Search out enhanced clothing tailor vendors on your map - visit the store's owner and give them a sample, and either ask them what they would pay on average or just tell them a price and see if it works for them. The business side of Galaxies can be very fun and challenging

i, use the following formula :

Pet stim B : charges x heal / 8 with very good resources im doing 841/34 stim and sell them as hot cake 3500-4000 crd.

Pet Stim C : charges x heal /( 5.6 or 6 ) with pretty good resourcees i end up with 1070/36 stim and full crates are sold for 375k in less one days.

Well main issue is to have large stock of meat (dathomir insect meat is bought over 30cu and herbivore is around the same).

spec ops duster requires 2 rfp's from a factory crate, therefore the tailor has to waste at least one for a schematic then use 2 more that do not stake. makes for an expensive specs ops duster

I use a simple formula I call "Hey, that's a good number, let's go with that". Time invested in collecting resources, resource amountsneededand consumer demand are just sort of rolled into whatever I feel like charging, heh. Currently my petstim B's of 37 packs and just shy of 800 heal are listed at 2500, and my C's of 1140 heal are 3500. I should probably charge more for the C's considering how fast they sell, but ehh...

hum ... how can u do money with stim C at 3500 crd ?

on my server, insect meat is sold above 35 cu and herbivore 30+ cu.

Add to that class 4at 10+ cu and you get a stim C at around 3.5K.
