Thread: Opinions on the best pet specials, triplets and twins.

Here's how I weigh in:

Stunning Strike, Crippling Strike, Blinding Strike, Dizzy Strike, Intimidation, Knockdown; maybe Strong Poison.

I say this not because it is profound, but to better inform buyers. I grow weary of explaining to people that Strong Disease is a worthless special for a pet.

The sad fact is that pets are worthless in PvP. They get chewed up; their only true worth is to land some of the above-mentioned specials before they get incapped.

To that end, here are the best triplets I have made:

Razor Cat, level 24

HAM 11179/6565/3478

Light Armor, Kinetic 60% (SP), Blast/Heat/Cold 5% (SP), Restraint 5% (Eff)

Attack Speed 1.97, To hit 0.22

Damage 190-200, Dizzy Strike/Strong Poison

Razor Cat, level 23

HAM 11089/6924/3604

Light Armor, Kinetic 60% (SP), Blast 4% (SP), Restraint/Heat/Cold 5% (Eff)

Attack Speed 1.96, To hit 0.22

Damage 150-160, Knockdown/Stunning Strike

Razor Cat, level 23

HAM 10999/6332/3765

Light Armor, Kinetic 60% (SP), Blast/Restraint 5% (Eff)

Attack Speed 1.96, To hit 0.22

Damage 230-240, Crippling Strike/Intimidation

I have found that good triplets are easy to make; for 1st generation use any creatures with some kinetic resist and the special of your choice, max physique and psychology. Combine 3 samples of 1st gen (in the metal, psychology, and aggression slots) with Merek Harvester in the physique and prowess slots; max physique and psychology again. Combine 3 samples of 2nd gen and Merek Harvesters in the same fashion; max physique and psychology, maybe put one or two points in aggression. Results noted in the creatures listed above; the first cat (1st gen) was made with Giant Spined Snake DNA (Lok), the second cat (1st gen) was made with War Gronda DNA (Corellia), the third cat (1st gen) was made with Greater Sludge Panther/Greater Sludge Panther/Kima/Savage Guf Drolg/Kima DNA (all Talus).

I have yet to make satisfactory twins, although I am working on it.

Any comments/opinions?

knockdown is a waste for two reasons. First, you get the same desired result from crippling strike and second, it never sticks (think it's a bug).

I am currently to try this set of triplets:

Special 1: Medium Poison

Special 2:Strong Poison

Since the two different poisons stack, each pet can apply both and have them stick. In addition, poisons from different pets stack so you could, in theory, have 3 med poisons and 3 str poisons going on someone at one time. For me, that would be great. I basically tank and my pets are just there to add to DPS. This would really help out in the DPS category

Does Crippling Strike have a timer like KD does? Or ifyou have a Dizzy/Crip pet can you stick the dizzy and spam crip on an NPC to keep them KDed?

and for my money there's only two ways to go: dizzy/cs for taking out NPCs, and intim/stun or intim/blind for general tankage. Poison is bugged, and at any rate you'd be lucky to get 5 ticks in against most mobs - the damage that would do is much less than the damage your pet would do from its normal attack in all the extra rounds it could survive with intim and stun or blind stuck to the enemy.

For my triplets I paired intimidate/strong poison, stun/strong poison, and blind/strong poison. I figure if all 3 get their dots to stick, thats 330pt/tick and it makes them long fights just go a little bit faster...I hadnt thought of doing med poison/strong poison...sounds like fun.

That's quite a nice idea Atplay, about the Sp MP, I honestly hadn't thought of it.

Specials needed or wanted depend on whether the MCH is PVE or PVP or a combination of both.

Strong Disease may not do much, but can annoy the bejeebers out of someone for a loooong time

specials are also dependant on the user. I'm a Pikeman myself, so I can inflict stun on my own. I don't have any move that does dizzy/blind hwoever, so that's the combo I look for when creating a good pet for myself. For a twins/triplets setup, I'd go for criple/intimidate on one, and stun/KD on another, to save me the HAM costs of those moves.

Poison's good and nice, but I never noticed that big a difference on the long fights if there was 110 damage ticking away every 20 seconds. I do so much more as a pikeman just by default hits that it's not significant enough to bother with.

Blind
Intimidate
Stun
Dizzy
KD if is fixed as previous poster claims.

Blind: Decreases chance to hitthus damadge output and decreses defense stats
Intimidate: Increases damadge taken via downed defense and decreases damadge output
Stun: Takes a round of combat away, and decreases both of the above marginally
Dizzy:Uhh... Makes them dizzy (If you are also a pistoleer this is awsome against humanoids... if you use your meleedefense 1 after dizzy they keep on falling and when they are knocked down like that they take huge damadge.)

I moved to Corellia I have no vendor and I don't know the coords to my house, but it doesn't really matter cause all my pets are in the tool box, I may have some in space, but that doesn't really concern you either.

Stun lowers DPS as well as taking away a round of combat. I would estimate that it lowers the damage of the mob by about 25% (intimidate is about 50%). Then, of course, there are a number of special abilities that you cant use while stunned, but that's more of a PvP thing.

More Proof for my madness...

Some guy on Doth wanted to duel my Rancor he is a pre-patch 1(0) so I only use him by himself to get Bull Rancor Missions for sampling... I was just getting the missions then logging, since it was late. He was a master Pikeman or something. He was fully buffed and tore it apart in 5-10 seconds. I asked him if he would be willing to duel some of my other pets, he agreed. I put STUN and one of mt MT. Squills (Tool) and he fought wtih them, I got my specials on right away and kept em up, becuase of the subs being buffed his regen was fast, but I got him down about a 1/4 of an inch. After 45sec - 1 min. he only had them half down with no heals by me.

They kept him at bay.

I can't wait until little wool grows up (i have a sweet 24 with 11k ham with blind & Int.)

Between him and Stun they will do about 900 DMG with the specials MR's beware.... lol
