Thread: Ranged attacks don't do kinetic??

Howdy folks,

Something interesting yesterday that I was clueless about up until now. A friend of mine was hunting with a pet that has a ranged attack. He was hunting voritors/voritor dashers on Dantooine. His pet has 60% kinetic resists and light armor. But he informed me that his pet got absolutely ripped to shreds by these voritors. He said that in the combat logs it was showing the voritors hitting for 200+ damage against his pet, and he said mainly they were hitting it with ranged attacks.

So my question is... are the ranged attacks that voritors (and presumable other critters) do not considered kinetic damage? If not, what are they? Does anyone have a clue?

I've always assumed that ranged was other than kinetic. When hit with ranged attacks, I've always had my armor (marbi) fail to block any of it...

I am assuming it is acid.

I had a similar problem when hunting spiders on Endor back in my days of MCH.

My BE pets with AR1 and 60% kinetic was getting ripped apart when they went ranged on him (he had a vuln in acid)...

I pulled out my wild gurreck, tapped the liar again, and the effect was quite different. My wild gurrek took much less damage. Note the wild gurreck has a 50% acid protection along with AR1.

It is possible that the damage type was something other then acid... but it couldnt have been kinetic.. I assumed acid since their spit is green and the gurreck had high acid res

NancyJ - did they ever come back to you?

I was hunting on Endor with a high kinetic resist pet and she seemed to be doing well against mantigrues unless they used their range attack. It might just have been numbers, but it could well be that there was a different damage type involved with the ranged attacks.
