Thread: CL10 bantha's to become mounts not tanks. How?

My guild would really like a fleet of CL10 Bantha's as mounts as the guild leader has this vision of a PvP squad all riding into battle on them. Now I'm not after these CL10 high ham and resist abominations, I'd just like to have a quiet life and finally stop the constant daily question of

"have you sussed out how to make level 10 Bantha's yet?"

So is it possible to make them without high ham/resists? If so please post you're recipies. I've scanned through the search command on this forum but all the hits seem to deal with the naughty CL10's.

Thanks for any assistance anyone can give me

Hats off to SOE. Not many companies could take the best MMO on the market and fu*k it up completely, that takes real skill.

Voritor Dasher / Voritor Dasher / Huurton Pup / Huurton Pup / Huurton Pup. It's less powerful than a level 10 droid, apsses all the checks and as far as I know isnt an exploit pet. I hope it's not, I sell a lot of them. Go to Dant, get an 8k Voritor Dasher Mission and a 3k (?) Huurton Pack lair and got to town. You only want to experiment perhaps 1 point into Phys, but you dont even need to do that to get decent pets, you can just rack it together on the spot and make more inventory space.

If they want PvP tanks though, you might want to replace the Huurton DNA for Nightspider. That'll give it Mild Poison and 14% Kinetic. Thats still valid, and working.

You can make cl 9 Bantha out of yard trash - which are perfectly acceptable as mounts

Thanks for that. Works a treat.

also the nightspider will net you a bit more health

and, as nancy pointed out, you can just use yard trash...... i do this all the time and sell banthas for 5k each and they seem to sell pretty well since a lot of people like to have banthas as mounts and don't care how good they are, just the look of em

especially those who have tusken raider clothes

ahh yes this works mostly when you have low quality samples. At the master level they tend to hit CL11 more often. Also, I suggest putting points into the mental. They usually start with int of about 20 so experiment that up to around 90 and the ham will be much more even. Typically you should get 3000/2500/1500 and CL10. If it goes to 11, resample it till you get 5 and just combine with no experimentation. THe second generation comes out good too.

The reason for making non-tank mounts? Cost. I make yard trash mounts and sell them for 5k - great for newbs that need to get around and cant afford to buy and maintain a speeder.
Obviously I could charge only 5k for my best tank pets in mount skins but it would be worth my time and effort to get the samples.
Offering both widens your target market

I don't price people out of the market for my high stat non-CH pets, so that works too. This is also a guild that wants to do this, so chances are costs are less of a consideration for them than having the creatures they want, though your point is well taken in the light of most people charging as much as they think they possibly can for anything they make lately, and complaining if anyone else sells for less than they charge.

For a guaranteed sale of a given number of pets that I can make with a known formula, it doesn't take much to make it quite worthwhile, so I would be likely to do something like this pretty reasonably, just for the sake of doing it, as well as for the "advertising value" of all those guildmembers showing off the pets I had made for them. If I were planning to stock them on a vendor, thatmight be different but this is pretty much guaranteed income, so it's worth doing at a decent price.

Besides, how would it look to have the entire guild's pets shot out from under them any time they went somewhere on the mounts you made them?

I made a bunch of VD HP dewbacks (around 30 in total) for a guild's Stormtrooper Division, they were mostly 5k/4k/3k HAM pets and I've had no complaints about them so far Mostly they are for RP purposed but that usually include PvP. I would say if this fleet of bantha's is for PvP then they need pretty decent HAM else they're not going to last long - if a player can one shot kill them then they're going to lose vitality very quickly.

Even gnort-level pets would be preferable to vehicles though, since they cannot be "disabled" by an opposing PvP force, leaving you without a ride home. Pets have a real advantage in "durability" over a long run, and they can be befriended to another player or two so they can be stored, even remotely, using tellpet, which you cannot do with a friend's vehicle.

I like the idea of the guild doing this, it shows a lot more than the usual style that I see in the PvP swagger and smack set.

I agree, mounts can be made with gnort or chuba DNA and be just as fast and odd-looking as the "real thing", hehe. The question is, if you can make the mounts as good as anything else as a tank, and once you're on foot, they are as fast as a player anyway, why not make the best CL10 you can, and use them as both tank and mount?

Probably 1/3 of the non-CH pets, and 1/4 of the CH ones at least that I make are mount classes, especially banthas and cu pas lately. People are realizing they can ride a mount, step off when attacked, and have their tank go right to work for them. Pets ridden as mounts do not stop at server boundaries or autostore when you get 100 meters away (since while you're mounted it is hard to be 100 meters away unless your mount is REALLY BIG!) and can have all the capabilities of any other creature we can make as a pet.

Banthas are a bit slow as mounts, but fun in general and easy to target in a crowd if you're healing them in PvE; in PvP that would be a liability since they are easy to target for an enemy as well. They still are one of the best looking mounts in my opinion, regardless of their speed.

Cu Pa mounts are fast, the riding graphics are quite good, with the exception that you seem to be positioned slightly "behind" the saddle when in first-person view, and they are not too large to follow you into places. I use one for that reason, since the Bantha does get hung up a bit like some others of the larger creatures, and it's a good ride for speed in the back country as well.

I'm looking forward to a balancing of the speeds of mounts and vehicles (which will no doubt be effected by reducing the speed of vehicles rather than increasing the speed of mounts, if it is typical of the recent changes. /sigh ) I have always though mounts were more likely to be more plentiful in some places, and it seemed that the advantage in speed (which I still thinks vehicles should have, just not by such a margin) was making the vehicles too common.
