Been working hard to determine specials lately. It is pretty well established that you need VHQ samples to get your specials to stick. But has anyone found a reliable way to predict specials? I have found when i put a sample with 2 specials in slot 5 I get both specials about 33% of the time, I get the creatures first special alone about 50% of the time and the rest of the time i get a special from slot 4. Just wondering ifanyone has a pretty reliable formula for getting exact specials.

You need HQ or VHQ samples (VHQ work better than HQ, but HQ does work).

Special 1 usually comes from slot 5

Special 2 usually comes from slot 4.

There are times where slot 5 will provide both specials but it seems to be a random factor.

For the bestchance to get the specials you want, use matched qualities for slots for and 5 (HQ & HQ, or VHQ & VHQ)

I know about only using VHQ when i want a special to stick and i follow that rule religiously. Sad to hear both specials sticking from slot 5 is random. Since I only use VHQ my slots 4 and 5 are always matched. Wondering about experimentation though ... I rarely experiment on aggression. Anyone find a link to exp points spent on aggression being linked to specials?

VHQ in the aggression slot will pass on both specials there everytime. High quality will pass on both specials most of the time but occassionally looks elsewhere.

Experimentation wont matter. The specails are put in on the combine of the DNA, not the experimenting.

So ... to the heart of the matter. Once again I am getting conflicitng answers to go with my variable results. One person says special 1 come from slot 5 and special 2 comes from slot 4, another says both come from slot 5. Well i am only using VHQ samples and that is all i plan to use, so who is right? Or is there some random factor?

Trust me, just use VHQ in the aggression slot and it'll pass on both specials each time. I had a lot of headaches trying to get specials to mix from psych and aggression until I noticed that. It also made pets a ton easier to make.

Actually, they are both right. That's part of the 'random science' that is BE. From my experience it seems easier to get some specials from 4 and 5 to mix, while others are harder.

Unfortunately this is part of the challenge of being a BE. Like the poster above said, if you can find a single creature with both specials you want, then stick a VHQ sample into 5 and something lower in slot 4 for good (but once again not always perfect) results. If you can't find a single creature with both specials, then be prepared to get a lot of DNA and have a lot of failures.

I still stand by saying VHQ in the agression slot sticks both specials every single time. When you use DNA with only one special in that slot, then it can mix them, though most often you end up with one special. When you use lower quality DNA it can also mix them, but, again, most of the time you lose a special, sometimes both. The only reliable combo I ever found for mixing specials was pikets and quenkers for dizzy/kd pets.
