Is there any documentation on how high a level pet I can sample from at DNA sampling 2? I don't want to break my neck trying to sample from a Merek Death Head if it's not possible at my level.

Just curious if anyone could post what level you can sample from as you work your way up the sampling tree.... thanks for your help.

After speaking with you last night, I went back through some of sampling notes. I know for a fact I was sampling Bols on Dant at Sampling II, and according to swgcreatures.com, they ring in at CLV 29, I remember the failure rate being about 50/50. I also have a few notes that mention Pikets, which have a CLV 30. I know for a fact I couldNOT sample Piket Plainswalkers atCLV 32. This means that Mereks of all flavors, save possibly the Assasin, are out until you reach Sampling III. I hope this helps.

Thanks to everyone who answered, it's nice to be in a profession I find interesting - it's a nice change from the constant kill,kill, kill side of things.

I've never seen any hard numbers on this. If you check the guide to grinding in the faq thread, it will give you a rough idea of what to sample. I would say you'd probably have a tough time with Death's head at only sampling 2.

I don't know if there is any documentation about how high you can sample at level 2, but when I got DNA 2 I took my first sampling trip off corellia to Yavin IV. I could sample Kliknik Queens (pretty sure this was the highest level creature I was successful with), but I was not successful much of the time and was attacked about 33% of the time, maybe more. My rule was not to push my luck and move on if I tried to sample 5 times and got nothing. I tried to sample Rancor on Dathomir... just plain little Rancor... at level 2, but I was never successful until I got to level 3. I think that there may be something in the FAQ, if not, I asked a similar question a few weeks ago and someone told me that Gronda and creatures of similar level are safe to sample. Safe they are and you will get multiple samples off the same creature and you will pretty much always be successful, though you will still get attacked every so often. I think the best stuff I found was sampling Giant Crystal Snakes, Arachnes and Klikniks, but nothing higher at this level without a high danger of being attacked. Hope this helps some...
