Thread: Something is not working correct...

Hello my fellow BE-Kolleagues,

I have something strange to report. I am a CH 1211 and a BE 4121.

I have crafted yesterday a lot of pets.

Some Dewbacks with following stats:

over 3300 Health
over 3200 Action
over 3300 Mind

and all of them between level 8 and 9.

I can tame them because I am a CH.

Now the strange thing:
I tame them, teach them and store them! Now if I call them, there ALLWAYS, and I mean A L L W A Y S, appears this Box if I want to adjust the pet's level or the stats. If I selecte LEVEL it will be adjusted to level 13/14/15, if I select STAS it will be adjusted to around 700/800 HAM. Why is that so?!? Why can't it stay as it is?!

I've seen many non-ch Pets over 7k HAM, and ALL of them USED by a NON-CH-Character. They don't get this box, but I always do!

I think there's something not working correctly!

If someone could tell me why, I would be thankfull.

Do you remeber the recipe you used to create these dewbacks?

No I don't sorry.

But if it's not clear what I mean:

Why does it have to be adapted?!? It's just BIOENGINEERED. That's what a Bio-Engineer is for, isn't he?!? I don't want the pets adapted! I want them left on level8 (in this screenshot) for example!

This adaption is killing the fun as Bio-Engineer!

I hope the Dev's will give a statement to this!

its a known bug jitt - but without any solidly reproducable formulas its very difficult to track down.
So you have no idea what you put in them?

The reason this is happening is twofold:

1) the calculation determining CL has errors when we produce certain creatures at low CL levels. What exactly is causing the problem, be it HAM, resists, some 'hidden' stats with multi-generational DNA, is unknown. Because of these errors, the Dev's instituted the dredded 'validity check' which is point 2

2) The Validity Check was put in to prevent BE's from crafting 'god like' non-CH pets. Upon calling a tamed clone, the check was to ensure the stats of the pet were inline with its CL. Unfortunately we've been told this isthe same code that determines the CL and we can see the same type of problems. Its still possible to create 'god like' non-CH pets, while now more reasonable non-ch pets are gimped.

This is why NancyJ has asked for your recipe. Hopefully knowing what is beingdone to create these invalid pets can help the devs determine what is wrong with both their Validity Check and CL calculation codes.

Needless to say, this issue isn't because you've done something wrong, its specific to the system. Since the recipe you use has a very good chance of producing these types of gimped pets most of the time, if you are going to make a business out of non-ch pets, you should probably change your recipe.

You've run across the current bane of our profession, the "invalid pet check". Things that seem to us very reasonable pets get "judged" to be out of the acceptable range and "adjusted" (SOE's term for nerfed into oblivion ) and things we generally agree to be way out of reason are accepted by the formula being used as working pets. It is something we're hoping to see fixed, and the more we can show the developers, especially in terms of pet recipes that go invalid, the better they will be able to diagnose the problem.

There's light at the end of the tunnel; the developers have stated that they recognise the problem and will try to fix it, though when and how remains as yet undetermined, much to our continued disconcert. They need to understand how it is happening in order to fix it, and our help in showing them is their best hope of finding the answer.

Congrats, you have landed squarely in the middle of the most difficult challenge to face the profession to date, I think. Welcome to being a BE !

If you can find the recipe you used, please post it right away so we can repeat the experiment and pass the information to the developers; it will help solve the problem for all of us.

For the Cu-Pa I've used only mound mite dna-samples.

For the Bantha I've used:
Physique Profile: Great Desert Womp Rat
Prowess Profile: Bantha
Mental: Lesser Swarming Dewback
Psychological Profile: Lesser Swarming Dewback
Agression Profile: Lesser Swarming Dewback
