My son is trying to master CH, and last night he was pretty teary eyed when he couldnt call his GSP.

He is 8, and 1/1/1/0 CH I have heard you need taming 3 to use a GSP correct?

Understand JEDI EXP (exp based on normalized kills)

Master Elite Prof 3,891,000 exp / 4200 exp = 926 Rancors for Master Elite anything
Master LightSaber 15,280,000 exp / 1000 exp = 15280 Rancors for Master LS

He's going to need to be able to call a CL 25 pet. He'll need all tier one boxes and three tier 2 boxes to be able to call his GSP again.

It will be a while before he can play with his GSP again.

Your son just needs to work towards raising his Max Level of Pets skill mod.

You get +12 for novice, +2 for each skill1 box, +2 for each skill 2 box, +3 for each skill 3 box and +4 for each skill 4 box. At 1,1,1,0 he has a Max Level of Pet skill of 18.

A great sludge panther is cl 25. So he just needs to decide the best way to gain the 7 more points he will need to call the panther. (One way would be togo for the second and third skill box in either taming, training or empathy and management 1 to give him those points.)

Since he is wanting to go for master, I would suggest he look over the new tree and decide which commands and things he is most interested in to help him decide where he should put his xp first.

Tell him to keep his chin up... I was in a similar situation as him when they did the first "big fix" to CH and I know how upsetting it can be to not have your favorite pet. If he enjoys the profession, he will get through it and have a fun time to boot!

I'm not a BE, but I want to buy a BE pet. I am looking for a cat or dog type creature, but I am not a CH. What would you suggest I go for? Something that I can ask a BE on my server for.

I guess i'm just looking for something with the most HAM at non CH level.

Thanks.

here's the part of the answer that will be the same no matter who you ask:

nonCH can use a nonaggro CL10 pet.

you've got a couple skins available... from the gurrcat to the razor cat... that might interest you. for a full list, check out the stickied FAQ and FAFAQ threads at the top of the forum.

SOME OF THE SKINS HAVE AN INHERENT 'AGGRO' STAT. this means that certain skins are NOT usuable by nonCH players. this is listed in the threads at the top of the forum.

SOME OF THE SKINS HAVE A BASE CL. if this CL is over 10, you can't use the skin as a nonCH. this is also listed above.

now, here's the part of the answer that can get messy:

WHAT MAKES A CL10 PET... AND WHAT MAKES A CL11 PET? we don't know. we have some guesses, and we've kicked around the question of 'what is too powerful at a nonCH level?' we're waiting for the devs to make some kind of statement about this. right now we're bound by a less-than-ideal crafting system and personal ethics.

I offer these stats NOT AS WHAT A BALANCED CL10 PET SHOULD BE, but as what you're likely to find without too much trouble.

look for about 6k/4k/2k HAM, CL10, with negligible resists (kinetic of 14% will probably be common).

whether that's a BALANCED pet is a matter for another discussion... one that will rage on at LEAST until the devs make a definitive statement.
