chef's just a side thing?

need to tell all my friends to stop spending so much time

all kidding aside, BE is a lot like other professions where y ou just get out as much as you put in

but be prepared to work for it if you're just in it for the money

pet crafting is very fun, and tissues is a great way to make some cash

pet making CAN be a very good way to make some cash if you know what you're doing- just read up on the forums and check some recipes and be sure to pay attention to the numbers (don't worry, it'll take you a while to get the hang of it), and pretty soon you'll get tells every other day asking for pets

If you get a customer base then tissues will make you a ton of money. Master chefs and tailors are probably not going to buy your tissues until you become a master BE however. If you want to make money along the way to master try selling pet meds. People will buy them off the bazaar even at lower levels as long as you price them accordingly.

Animal creation is a lot of fun and can make money for you. I use animal creation for entertainment more than anything else anymore. Cranking out CL10 animals using the same recipe time after time gets a bit old. They sell well though so keep that in mind.

Depends how you play it. If you are purely in it for the nutrients and you have someone getting the meat for you then its a 5 minutes per day job. If you have to get the meat yourself then it can take about 3 hours per run to get enough meat. If you are doing that, making pets and stimsthen consider yourself 9-5

BE is a full time job, make no mistake.

This profession can make you very wealthy, however you will need to hire hunters, and be very active at acquiring lots of meats and organics. Like artisans and architects go throught ore and steel, you willgo through meat and other organics. Also get ready to go egg hunting everyday!

I have been aBE for along time now and i have an excelent customer base and new customers all the time.

I cant keep up enough product to satisfy all my customers.

Just be forwarned, BE is tough to get and tough to keep.

I am estimating that of those who attempt BE as a profession, 30% make it to master and of those 10% keep it for a week, and of those who stayed 1% are still BE's.

Just my 6 cents!

Nobody else mentioned it, but Bio Engineer is also a great profession for roleplaying if you're into that sort of thing. It's the perfect profession if you want to throw on your white Doctor's outfit, put up your "Geneticist" tag, and stand around in the Medic Center talking to all the Medics and Doctors about how you can actually manipulate what goes on inside the bodies that they're trying to heal. If you spend a lot of time adventuring in the wilds, looking for that perfect DNA, you'll also end up with a lot of exciting stories to tell.

But I do have one quick question, By tissues is that considered additives? I have a very good freind who said He needs additives for his chef buisness. if not then to be honest I cant think of what else there for hehe.

also he said one run of additives is about 1.2 mil a run is this correct? and also Any helpful hints on the sampling tree would be great, I read that for dna I do trash lairs and stuff like that and when i get to dna III do pickets? is this the best way currently? or is there a more efficent way?

and once again thx for all that great feedback

BE is a lot of fun, you can even RP when hunting DNA. I have this idea that my toon would say something like this when she finds an impressive wild creature: "You are a fine example of your species, allow me to improve you!" *poke*

additives are tissues plus water. chefs make additives from BioE tissues. chefs use additives, not the tissues, in the crafting of food.

similarly, tailors do not use the tissues directly... they craft them into reinforced fiber panels or synthetic cloth, THEN use those items in clothing.

it's a minor thing, but more than one chef has asked me why my tissues are unusable (which they are, until crafted into additives).

DNA advice? there's a lot of different ways to do it. I'd make sure your mind stats are migrated, drink some vasarian brandy, and start sampling on a newbie spawn (like the critters surrounding the keren starport). once you've got DNA 1 or DNA 2, you should be able to head to dantooine or endor and get more xp per sample. at novice, though, don't get too ambitious.

I was a little rough on my first post, i guess im in a better mood now!

BE is a very exciting profession, and we fellow BE's would love to have ya!

I really enjoy DNA'ing and sampling an animal to better understand it's makup. In my early days, i was all about mass-dna'ing. Pulling the DNA until i killed the animal or he turned, now i pull only a few DNA samples and leave, for some reason i feel better about doing this. Call me crazy!

As for going up the DNA line, i did it in 19 hours straight! He was my game plan and it worked, what a day that was!:

1st Box: Corellia, Coronet(the trainer is behind the bank wall)anything small around the NPC cities

2nd Box: Talus(with buff) Torton's and huf duns, pulled missions, NOTE* wife accompanied me and continually pulled missions so i could keep moving. Also keep bike out for quick escape if the animal turns on you.

3rd Box: Same as above. Always stay buffed or at least on pixie with brandy and canape.

4th Box: Dath, Science outpost, i DNA'ed anything that moved! Kept buffed and brady all the way.

Good luck!

thx a lot, yah i jus got done of 2 hours of sampling and only 6k xp....... Im wondering if im doing something wrong

I went to tat first and did all the mos eisley newb creatures...80 per sample but the biggest problem was that i failed nearly 90% of the time

so I decided to go to theed like the faq post on top. and Still same xp but a lil better ratio, only failing about 75% of the time.

then i went to try lesser plains bols on dant, great for nades for scout so i figured id try it, i got 125 xp and way better ratio about 50%

only drawback was everything around the bols aggros u so I was constantly on the run.... I will try coriella like u suggested after a lil break hehe, can only poke them so many times b4 it gets to u ya

also whast a good num,ber of facotires and stuff I will be needing, I would like to get that al set up as I go Once again thx for ur help and im sure ull be seeing much of me on these forums

I've found that startled animals tend to be harder to get samples from. If you see a critter laying down you'll have a better chance of getting a sample from it. That may be why novices sampling yard trash outside an NPC city have an insane fail rate. Those yard trash animals are always startled by people shooting at them and running by them and driving speeders over them.

The higher you go in the sample tree the more samples you'll get from one critter. You'll also get better quality samples. Master BE's still fail sampling a stupidly large amount of times so get used to it and shrug it off.

Ihave found that Masking my scent helps to control the "Animal Jitter" that sometimes startles the animals...

On the factories, i currently run 4, however when i got alot of stuff i gotta make, ill get 8 factories going.

Just start out wth 1 or 2 for now, also as lots will permit. You will also need a fewflora harvs and a few chemical harvs, mediums are good to start out with, then move up to large when finances permit.

Also find some friends who like to hunt and ask them for the meat the'll harvest!

Good luck!
