Ok, I'm not asking if its possible, I'm here to say it does work already. KD's have never really worked on pets as long as I have been a CH since launch.
I made a razor cat, cl22, light armor, 50% kinetic. About 250 damage. 9k ham. w/dizzy strike.
It works on people type of mobs and not animals or any other creatures.
I almost hit the floor myself when the kitty hit a Tusken Captain with dizzy, he fell down and could not get up for the remainder of the fight. He kept trying but couldn't.

yeah we know this already mate. KD/dizzy has never worked on animals and has always worked on NPC mobs.

IIRC its not a bug its a feature
Creatures dont have KD animations, only lying down animations and that would look silly.

i would like see better incap animations, e.g. when a cat/dog dies it lies on his back with its legs in the air full of rigamortis

I'm not sure what you're getting at here NancyJ. Creatures have the ability to be knocked down, just not by another creature. They have knockdown animations, unfortunately only PC's and NPC's can execute them on creatures.
Creatures don't have a kneel pose either but that state can be put on them by both people and creatures.
It has been common knowledge though that KD has never worked when executed by a pet special, read the CH wish list, you'll see it in there.

Pets can do specials on command, just not all of them, poison/disease and KD are the ones that spring to mind.

Pets do have a queue, but specials move through it pretty fast. Special attacks, even if the state does not land, usually do the listed pet damage instead of below it as well. (Not many people realize pets do less than their full listed damage.)
Being overpowered is probably not the issue because those three (knockdown, poison, disease) have not worked since special commands were introduced in Publish 6 (Publish 7 for wild animals). All others including the AoE attacks work just fine. Also the knockdown timer prevents abuse.

Knockdown might have fired or the NPC might have done a posture change.
The problem with knockdown is that it cannot be ordered with the special attack commands. If you are fine with random chance then no problem. Most handlers prefer for an attack to work when commanded though, in which case the dizzy/criple is better.

I'm not getting at anything, just what the devs told us.

The knockdown can be triggered from a dizzy alone. I'm sure thats what fired off randomly from the pet. (thats how the pikets do it to me too, I think it was pikets...)
Anyway, I was just thinking, if the pets were able to actually fire off a special on command, they would again be overpowered and thats why perhaps they don't allow it yet. Of course, people would spam their macros to command the pet to spam specials with no drawback in place to limit it.
But I just have to mention again about my sheer delight in watching my razor cat dizzy and take down that tusken and rip him to shreds while I rolled on the floor laughing cause I couldn't believe it worked. It looked like he was holding him down with one paw and slashing with the other. Its a wonderful world.

Well, you can put dizzy on a NPC and spam posture down, but the second time it hits the NPC gets back on his feet so no point in doing it. Why some specials cannot be ordered, who knows? I am just happy that most of them work.
