Thread: What's required in order to make a BE pet and moderate BE clothing?

Hello, all! I'm real interested in the Bio-engineer profession and I was wondering if a few people can answer a couple of questions that I have.

I'm wanting to know what is required in the skill-trees in order to make bio-engineered pets and clothing? Unfortunately I can't master CH or BE, because I'm going for Master Ranger. I'm hoping that one doesn't need to be a Master BE and Master CH in order to create BE pets or clothing. Right now I currently have Novice Creature Handler, Novice Rifleman, and Novice Ranger (Master Scout). Unfortunately I'm not left with much skill points once I'm done, but I do love the idea of bio-engineering pets and clothing and would love to use these two professions ... even if the skills are moderate due to not mastering them.

Any help is definitely appreciated!

Moderate BE clothing doesn't sell well, I would suggest not going into BE unless you plan on going to master. Otherwise, you may be facing a tremendous amount of frustration at your limitations

There really aren't any crafting professions that are worth dabbling in. If you just want a few good pets, either 1) buy them from a good BE on your server, or 2) master BE, and make a large number for yourself.

FYI, #2 is how I got into BE. I had meant to surrender it, but...

BEs dont make clothing, tailors do.

Ah, indeed.

Well, Zadokk, I did of course mean bio-engineered clothing. I'm assuming that a tailor can't just make bio-engineered clothing all by his lonesome without having at least a few skill-trees in the BE profession ... or am I mistaking? This would indeed help, since I will most definitley not have enough skill points to pick up Artisan.

The bio engineer provides the tissues for the tailor, the tailor puts them into the clothes. The BE doesn't need tailor skills, and the tailor doesn't need BE skills, they just need each others to make a final piece of engineered wareable clothing.

Here is my answer to your question:

I don't think you can make a reasonable pet without 0-0-4-4 in bio engineering. But I think you could probably have a lot of fun, and make some decent pets at that level.

If you have 0-4-0-4 you can make around +14 tissues or so, which isn't really that bad if you think about it. Since +25 is the cap, and a lot of people want to reach that cap and need 2 tissues to do it, in many cases +17 is not more desirable that +14. But you'd still have a lot of problems if you went this route. 2 of the most popular tissues are in the master level box so you wouldn't be able to make them at all. Also, even though +14 tissues are very useful, a lot of tailors (especially the newer ones) won't touch them just as a pride thing. The other problem you'll have is that I assume with this template you won't have any skill points left for surveying. If you don't, you are going to have a lot of problems getting the flora you need for these tissues. Also not having a vendor if you are a bio engineer puts you at a gigantic disadvantage.

Here is a question though: why go CH? I really don't think that with low level CH skills you'll be able to kill anything beyond durnis and gubbers unless you had good combat skills of your own to back that up. Also you won't be able to train pets well enough to sell them, so I'm not sure why you'd want the CH skills.

Thanks! I was hoping that wasn't the case but unfortunately it is

Would it be okay though to use the BE clothing for myself, or is it not even worth the effort? I'm more interested in the bio-engineered pets than the clothing, but having both would be a plus. Can I decently bio-engineer a pet with novice BE, or would I need to go up in certain skill trees to make a rather nice bio pet? DNA skill-tree, maybe?

Thanks in advance!
