I was playing with a Kinetic / Energy recipe and noticed that each combine I did resulted in a level 17, even with the multi-gens with crappy stats. I've read about Energy giving extra CLs but an extra 7-10 seems a bit much. I'm not asking for anyone's secret recipe but would like to know if getting these down to 12-14 is even possible and has anyone been able to get a level 10?

What kind of pet were you trying to make? Some clone types have a minimum level they can be made.

Were you expirementing on aggression and/or mental? That will bump it up a bit.

I was placing it in a Razor Cat skin and was only experimenting on Physical. I figured that was the least likely to have any effect on CL given previous experiments. Fortitude didn't cross 500, I made sure to use a critter that did not have armor. I remember one of the beasts had a damage of 30-35 with a to-hit of .22 and an atatck speed of 2.2x Entirely expected when you aren't experimenting on Phychology.
Thanks for the suggestions so far.

If you are experimentating with getting the level as lowest as possible then you should try using an extremely low level skin, like a gnort, to make sure that your results aren't altered by the skin.

I hadn't noticed a level difference between getting 20% in both and getting 50% in both, each came up with a CL of 17. I should try it with an extremely low level skin next time I work on it. I was under the impression that the skins provided a minimum level, can they also bump it up if it's over their minimum?

That's true that they do provide only a minimum level, however, while i was experimenting with getting the lowest level with AR1/60% kin I realised that my results may have been effected from the fact that I was using a dewback skin (min level 5). I managed to get it down to 60% kinetic only CL5 and 60% kin / ar1 CL15 - this would suggest that that there is a 10 level hard cap for ar1 but i forgot to try it with a gnort skin so I don't really know.

I remember reading that but didn't connect it until now. You're suggesting the possibility that there may be more "minimum + some amount" than just for armor. I hadn't looked at it that way and it certainly sounds possible since we know they do it with armor.

If you are not exp in the Psyc and only Physical you will not bring it down. You need to max out The Pysc too.
Let me know how it works for you.

I'd be interested in knowing what specifically you tried. It's more difficult to talk in terms of generalities.
This is not something I've ever put much effort into myself (sub CL 20 level pets with high energy resist).

you can even sample that LVL 17 pet plus some of the DNA you used in that creature and get a lower lvl creature also.
