Thread: There is just something half-arsed about mounts

I mean mounts are gonna be cool because it is a new thing. However I made the 6 creatures they said would used for mounts and put them in our guild hall for everyone to see.

I began to notice that these 6 creatures are really only three. Dewback and Bol are the same creature, but wait he Bol has horns and different skin. Kaadu and Spat, Just same this with this one. Brackaset and Falumpaset, yeah how about that, same thing.

I mean even the animation on the critters is the same, at least the spat and kaadu, I did not watch the others that closely.

I don't know, I just think it is a bit of a cop out. I mean what about the Tybis/Kahmurra, Blurrg/Cu Pa, Gualama/Krahbu, Bantha/Snorbal, Bolle Bol/Ronto, Narglatch/Razor Cat.

Wouldn't any of those make good pets to ride on too (Besides my secret way of showing most of our pets have a pet very similar looking in our same line, except we can't make a Cu Pa).

The devs did mention that they would be adding other creatures to the list of mountable creatures. These are jsut the ones that made the first round. For non-creature handlers though it is really only three available: Kaadu, Crarion Spat, and Dewback. That is assuming they stick with the CL15 limit for non creature handlers and allow us some way to lower the CL of a Dewback from 18 down to 15.

I also think they should add CuPa as a mountable creature since it is essentialy the same thing as the taun-tauns they rode on Hoth.

Well if the first release of Creature Mounts is the definitive patch on the subject then I would have to agree with you. This is an entire new feature of the game that has several variable to consider. Yes the six mounts that have been previewed are actually only 3 body styles. This all takes time to do. I would have to assume that more body frame styles will be coming in subsequent updates. I would rather only have 3 body styles and have them work then 6 and nothing work. Before anybody makes a remark about there going to be bugs anyway, remember 3 will take less time to debug then 6.

I read in a online chat with Q-3PO and Blair that anyone can ride a mount once it has been tamed. I'm not sure if this only applies to the CL-15 and below creatures. If they limit no ch riders to this, then the dewback needs to be lowered to 15.

On the whole i think that the first batch of mounts is a nice cross section of species. You have a handful of weaker ones, an exotic one, a midrange and some large mounts which are designed for CHs. Too bad the Rancor didnt make the cut but then again I can imagine there's technical issues with trying to make an animation of someone climbing onto the back of one.

I don't think the rancor missed the cut for technical reasons. I think it is because in the current literature, only force sensitives have ever ridden them. Not much of a market at this point in the game :>

Yes but if a Master CH could ride a Racor it would actually give a reason to get Master CH in this day in age.
