ok I got the class yesterday and I am wondering about something after I made a couple of the novice pets. What can we change on the pets? as I only got one (WTH is up with that?) experiment point I can not really see what is changing what. Now another thing, has anyone brought up the ability to change pet colors? or can we at some lvl?

Currently, the cloning process isn't how it will be.
But as it stands, without training the experimentation tree, there's not a lot of effect you can have. Each of the five profiles on the template (and then the final creature) can be touched.
Many many posts speculating what DNA does what, how it all works, and what stats control what.
Appearances to me:
HAM is controlled by the 2/3/4 profiles (physical, prowess, mental). To Hit is affected by Mental (raising the mental profile gives more mind pool, and appears to increase the to-hit if larger is better, which it seems to be). Psychology MAY affect the likelyhood of it running away in a fight, chasing things endlessly, or accuracy in commands. Damage, and attack speed appear to be locked in ratio. If you have 2.0 second attack, 100 damage (1:50), if you increase the damage by experimentation to 150, attack speed will slow down to 3.0 seconds.
Anyway, it's complicated. It's likely to get more complicated. =) But experimentation is the only thing that will let you approach wild variants even with good resources, and that requires you training that other tree too.
