Thread: A few BE Questions for a 2,1,4,1 BE

First off I spent a bunch of time on Dathomir today and got some really good samples of a few things. From Brackasets, to the highest thing I sampled which were Craggy Bolma (CL 47). This all took a lot of time. Either from running or dying or just lack of a lot of creatures that were in one area.

Then I went back to my home and just started sampling junk around there; durni, gnorts, things of that sort. I could get a lot more samples quickly that way and if I pulled out my medical droid I could make Bagerasets for 200 BE Crafting Exp.

Although I was able to make a level 23 Bageraset with the great samples I got on Dathomir, is that reall important at this point?

I'm trying to grind my way to Master BE, and with the new changes I can't make Blurgs anymore, so the highest experience is bagerasets, and it seems no matter what sample I use (junk or really good stuff) I still get 200 BE Crafting Experience. So should I stay simple until I become a master?

The second question is this: I saw some ancient rancors and ancient rancor scouts when I was out running around and they were CL80 and CL78. I didn't try to sample them because I thought they might be too high to sample. So, what is the highest level creatures we can sample now with the changes? This is for later on when I get closer to master or am a master.

Thanks in advance.

I'm interested in the answers to this as well as a 2,1,4,1 BE.

I wasn't able to sample Kimogila pre-patch...(that is to say, I could TRY, but was never successful, even with DNA Sampling IV).

There are many who claim the best way to grind BE is to do the Micronutrient supplement in batches of somewhere on the order of 5000 of them. However, since this is so mind-numbingly BORING I get all my BE xp from taking DNA Samples and crafting them into pets. You get xp for the template, as well as for crafting the final creature.

All the same, the difference between being a lower level BE now as compared to pre-patch is that the pets we craft are actually valuable and useful to people--though the higher level BEs will smack us down.

It's ALL about the DNA now. By all means, get tons of crappy DNA for grinding, but there's something to be said for seeking out the great samples as well.

Geez...I'm going to need a structure just to hold all of my DNA samples. Used to be I could do with 50 samples in a pack and crank out whatever I needed...now I need to sort them by abilities, resists, etc, and having a variety on hand would help quite a lot.

I'm sure you're with me on this one. I can't wait until the grind is over and I can just collect worthwhile DNA without grinding through 10 clones at a time for xp.

If you're trying to advance, I'd lay off the creatures entirely. I know it's no fun, but grind MNS. Seriously, I don't care if it's 200 xp or 2000 xp for making a creature. I'm sure I could grind50 MNS in the time it takes you to make one creature, and since you're maxed on dna, really no reason to "grind" creatures. Also, since you're obviously out there "playing" a BE (obvious since you have dna 4 - good for you!) I'd advise putting your next three skill boxes into experimentation. Seriously, you have no idea how huge a difference that makes. I was noticing last night that each point I put into say physical added like 500-1k to health. That's huge. Before you know it you've turned what was a 5k HAM critter into a 10k HAM one.

It's really not though... seriously. DNA is huge, but you can easily double the HAM of a creature by experimenting on it, ordouble the damage, or add armor, or... Also, the benefit you get largely from using good DNA in the first place is that it allows you to experiment on it (crappy dna does not). So seriously, it's like 50% dna, 50% experimentation ability.

Its always cool to see non-holo BE's out there playing and not just grinding, but consider this: from memory I think the 4th level boxes take 80k xp and 3rd level take like 60k. So at your level you're probably only about 10% of the way to master in terms of xp (discounting the dna line).

You're killing me here. KILLING me.

I remember when I started out in the profession I asked a Master BE on my server how long it took him to master the profession.

His response: "*edit* You don't want to know."

I'm still not sure how long it took, but I got the distinct impression it was tedious.

And yeah, I didn't take this profession because the Holo told me to do it. In fact, the Holo told me to go and Master Musician. I told the Holo to go climb up someone else's rear end and torture them instead.

I'm sorry, everyone...it's my fault. The holocron listened to me and is now trying to torture...everyone.

Thanks, Arthur.

I hadn't ever tried even doing those and you are right. 100 BE Crafting Experience per MNS compared to about 400 per creature I make. AND - I can just buy all the ingredients so no waste of time there. I will grind this out until I get to master now.

I don't grind until I get to the last few thousand in a box. If you decide to grind I would recommend taking time to craft tissues and make animals as you go. You will need the experience when you get to master.

The last two boxes in the BE trees are 50K and 80K. Think about how many animals and DNA samples you will need to get that. That's a butt load of animals and if you look at the amount of time spent collecting the DNA then crafting the animal I would agree whole heartedly MNS is the way to go.

OK, I'm still fairly new to the BE game, but with three crafting devices, I was able to get 30k XP in about an hour-and-a-half the other night on practice mode with MNS. This gave me a second level box, which was pretty good. I've also found that I can crank out MNS while waiting for the darn transports to show up - I always seem to manage to show up about 38 seconds after they've left! You can get a lot of MNS crafting done when you add up all those 9 minuteses!!! And then the other thing that I do is craft MNS while sitting waiting for my mind to recover after I've used it all DNA sampling. I don't always use Muon Gold, so I just sample "naturally."

I myself hate to take the attitude of "grinding" any profession, so I pretty much accomplish much of this grinding while actually using the downtime of doing other things. It helps out alot. I can't wait to hit MBE! This is gonna be so fun now.

Took me 8 days to master BE, and only 3 days to master the crafting portion, the rest was the time it took me to get the DNA sampling. It does not take that long and the hardest teir by far is DNA which you've already completed.

yea I'm with you stingersw, I'm not about the silly grinding at all, but I do use the MNS macro while I'm waiting for the shuttle, and while I'm sampling DNA in the wild as well (I'm 1111 so I don't sample too big stuff yet, so I can do something else in the same time), I mean, it's not a lot of xp anyway (holo grinders are just mad to grind all the way to BE with only MNS, baka !), and it's still better than doing nothing.

I love the BE profession, and I can't wait to get to a higher level, but I can say that most of my xp were done by crafting pets and other stuff, and I tame them after so I can get ch xp as well, then I give them to friends, or as house furniture.

Imma drop ch anyway, to raise fencer (should be way more fun than tanking and staying away from the action), so it'll be cool for sampling (fencers are difficult to hit), I'll be able to manage critical situations with aggro creatures all by myself.

It might be a good combination, I'll let you know about it.
