I've almost mastered BE... nother day or 2 tops... made quite a few already... but what i'm curious about is... what determines the level of the pet and stats... I see the stats on samples, but am failing to see how those stats are affecting the outcome so that I can adjust what i'm using for which slot of the templates...

Also, i've heard of these uber low level pets... and soo far, the lowest level i've been able to make is a lvl 10 pet with around 1K hams almost no resists and about 60 dmg... How do i keep the levels down yet still make them have somewhat decent stats?... Can somebody please give me some insight here as to what i need to be looking for in my samples and assembly of the critters?

Well Bud you have asked a seemingly simple question, but it unfortunatly has a very complex answer. Let me see if I can break it down a little for you. The level of a pet is determined by the levels of the creatures the samples came from, attack damage, resists and ham. Experimentation also plays a role in the class, experimenting in aggression which affects damage seems to raise the level while experimentation in psychology seems to lower it. There are many, many posts on this forums which are "recipes" for lvl 10 pets, including what to sample, which samples to put in which slots and what to spend your experimentaion points on. One word of caution though, the devs seem to theink these "uber" lvl 10 pets you are talking about are too powerful so be careful of going too high on ham or dmg. Personally I do not like to go over 6k for ham or 100 for damage. Nothing worse than selling a pet then having to give a refund or trade-in the pet because your customer gets an auto-adjust messege. Also as far as DNA template stats and the outcome of the final template, there is a program someone wrote (sorry I can't remember who it was) that does the math for you. You input the stats and get fairly accurate estimates for the template, then the creature. Everyone is still trying to determine the formula that is used for class. There are either too many random variables or it is extremely complicated. If you want to try the program here is the address;

ok, tks for the explanation. I'm not trying to make over uber pets, i'm just trying to keep the levels on the pets somewhat low and still have them compare to some of the other cl 10 pets i've seen cause soo far, the 1k ham 60 dmg ones i've made really suck...lol

The best explanation for what stats a pet has comes from the FAQ which is stickied at the top of this forum. Mirrl, Tal-N and a bunch of others took a lot of notes and crunched a lot of numbers for the rest of us. I haven't waded through the recipe link recently but there might be some good things there.

If you want to hit (or stay near) CL10 there are a few good recipes. I use the voritor dasher/huurton pup one.

VHQ VD VHQ VD
AA HP AA HP
VHQ HP

Put one point in physique and one point in mental and you'll hit 10 a good deal of the time with pets that have 4.2k health, 3.2k action, 1.8k mind, kinetic resist around 13-15% and sometimes dizzy and ranged. You can combine the other quality dasher dna with assorted nightspider dna but your results may vary more widely. HQ dasher with AA nightspider most often gets closest to 10 for me.

VHQ = very high quality (dna)
AA = above average (quality dna)
VD = voritor dasher
HP = huurton pup

You can get voritor dasher missions and huurton matron or huurton pack missions have pups (more for the later type).
-------
You can also ask for recipes for specific types/ranges of pets here and sometimes people will help. It seems there are more of us willing to share information than those types who maintain we should all discover all of it for ourselves (talk about reinventing the wheel six million times!).

The difference between someone with the Master BE tag and a true Master BEis analagous to the difference between someone with a home brewing system and the head brewmaster who wins the gold medal at the beer festival. Both can brew beer. It's just that one is much better at it than the other.

I will throw you a few bones though:

1. Do what the other poster said and thoroughly read the FAQ. Pay particular attention to posts from Mirrl, Scorus and Sumorex.

2. Tal-N's recipe produces CL10 pets that get adjusted when you tame them, so I'd avoid it.

3. The CL is determined by a complex formula that takes all the stats on a DNA Sample into consideration as well as the results you get during the crafting process. I willtell you that Aggression (damage), Fortitude (Armor), Cleverness (to hit %) all are very important but the plain truth is ALL the stats in a DNA strand are factored in with varying degrees of weight. The exact formula for calculating CL has been intentionally left a mystery by the Developers and as yet, it has not been completelycracked by any Master BE that I know of.

4. The key to creating very powerful CL10 pets is to understand the generational cloning system. Interesting things happen when you sample creatures you've created and then use that DNA to make pets.

5. Take the time to document your results. Write down where you experiment, the DNA numbers you get on the Generic DNA Template and track what happens when you make the pet. Compare these numbers and CL results against each other and you will start to see patterns. Once you see patterns, start changing one stat (say Aggression) and see what effect it has on the CL and overall quality of the pet. Do this about 1000 times and you'll be well on your way to understanding how to do it. The key to experimentation is to establish a baseline and then change one and only one thing at a time and observe what happens.
