I keep reading all these guides and posts but they don't make sense to me. I'm brand new, I grinded out the requirements in two days (I'm a MMO vet, but this game is very different). Please help me in a good direction to get me started. Please don't say I'll be gimp, because I don't care. I like pets, and I want to use them for a while to get the feel of the game. I just need some help that I don't have to sift through all the macros to get.

well the FAQs are pretty complete for new BEs. The system may be confusing at first, you'll just have to do one or two till you get a feel for how its done and get an idea of what all the terms mean =)

BE is hands down the most complicated, convoluted crafting profession in the game. You cant just read about it and learn it, you really need practical experience and intuition to get it right =)

Some thoughts from a newer BE, hopefully they will help you.

1. Sample trash. Lots of it. Go outside Coronet or Theed. Mask scent. Call a pet out and tell it to guard you (if you can train "guard" yet) Put SampleDNA on your toolbar if you don't already have it - contrary to the FAQ, it's listed under Other in the CTRL-A panel now.

2. Once you've collected 10 or so samples, stop. Fire up your food/chem tool and make a Genetic Template. Notice that the DNA has 10 stats for things like Fortitude, Intellect and Endurance but the final template actually has 15...5 of the abilities are based on your assembly/experimentation/other 2 stats in the triplet. It's worth trying to wrap your brain around this concept.

3. Check out the stats on the template once the tool spits it out. Now, fire up the tool again and make a critter. The quality of the organic resources IS IRRELEVANT. You can use the crappiest meat and plant stuff you find, it won't effect the quality of the assembled creature. It's all about the template and your assembly skill. Do note that you don't get to experiment on this combine.

4. Once the creature is spit out, check out the stats. Now, tame it and get some CH XP.

5. Go to www.swgcreatures.com to find out where things live in the galaxy and what levels they are. Good to know for both sampling DNA and CH wrangling.

6. Go to http://www.swgbe.mmospy.com/to hang with BE's in their own home on the web.

7. Don't feel like you need to rush or grind.
