Stun is a great skill. It lowers the opponents defences, and the DPS. Intimidate lowers the DPS and the opponents secondary defences. It's a great combo imho.

I just went through this very thing myself. I had a BE friend of mine make me twin level pets. One with Intimidate + Blind, other with Stun + S. Poison. Now after playing with them for a few days now, If I had to choose between having Stun and Blind.. Id take Stun. I cant say for sure if Blind has no effect at all or not, but I do seem to notice more of a difference with Stun over Blind.

Intimidate for my money, is the best Special to get on a pet. Easily. Im not much of a fan of the Specials that arent working on command right now. Poison/Disease and Knockdown. So that leaves me Intimidate, Stun and Blind. Crippling and Dizzy are for certain scenarios only. Mainly PvP, or for NPCs.

All that said. I love my Intimidate/Stun/Blind combo. I do believe that Blind is working on creatures somewhat though. Because beforeI even had my pets with Blind, I was using my own Blind Special attack with my gun, and seemed to notice a difference. Stun just might be the more noticable of the two.

Where do you read that Stun lowers defences? I understand the DPS part, because it says it makes the opponent lose a combat round. Not saying its not true, just asking. If it does, they need to update the ingame description of it.

/Wave Waivveen Hey Bro! This guy makes great pets by the way!

Kepp here,

I haven't had chance to send Waivveen the stats in game (due to RL as well) but here is what I have totaled so far and with me at work. I have been adding to this inbetween resource contracts and plan on getting the sample rate up quite a bit to improve the accuracy but I have about twice this much data tabulated by hand at home and these numbers are holding strong.

First off I tested four different pets on Sharnaffs on Corellia. The pets were a CL59 with Blind/Intim, a CL59 with Stun/Intim, a CL61 with Intim only, and a CL51 with dizzy only. I will list the stats of each pet below for comparision. The two Cl59's and the CL61 are very close with the CL51 having about the same or better stats with 60% resists and 12.5k HAM.

About the statistics, I used just a single pet and sent it in once I got the creature positioned so I would only have the one creature (no adds). I would then use only HS2 to attack the creatures so no additional specials were applied. I stayed at the same range with each creature about 30m so I could see the damage results spam by and monitor progress. After combat was over I would heal the pet too full with pet stims and record the total damage healed (all three pools added together). The average total damage is listed under Avg. Damage taken. I baselined off of the Dizzy only pet since I wanted to measure how much damage reduction I was getting from the different special combo's. I had a macro that I ran to engage pets in combat that cycled continuously through the specials alternating between each with a 0.5 second pause inbetween. This made sure that the specials remained on the creature as much as possible. The Sample size column is the number of creatures faced and averaged. As stated earlier I have actually increased these sample sizes quite a bit but have not had a chance to record them in my spread sheet (Which I have at work.) but the numbers have held close to the same, withing 0.02.

Summary Bull Sharnaff

Avg.Damage Taken % Improvement Sample size

Off Baseline

Dizzy Only(Baseline) 1633 0.00 3

Blind/Intimidate 854 0.48 13

Intimidate Only 7270.55 9

Stun/Intimidate 579 0.6519

Summary Sharnaff

Avg.DamageTaken % Improvement Sample size

Off Baseline

Dizzy Only(Baseline) 878 0.00 9

Blind/Intimidate 414 0.53 15

Intimidate Only 435 0.50 18

Stun/Intimidate 342 0.6118

My conclusion is that Intimidate itself is the hands down best special to have on a pet for PvE. It has a solid 50% damage reduction effect and will significantly improve uptime and reduce stim use/cost. (and also save my little friends from a beating! :smileywink The Stun gave between a 10-15% additional reduction, meaning they stacked, which makes it the second best special out there and to me the most valuable combo. I got mixed results with Blind but over all saw really no improvement over Intimidate by itself. I have not done much testing with PvP or PvPE so I can not comment on its effect there but I know when I am blinded my accuracy seems to go down.

I hope this helps a little bit, I can post the larger set of numbers when I get a chance to combine them. These findings hold true with what I have found talking to other CH's so I am very satisfied with the results and my pets. Bottem line: I would much rather have intimidate over a few extra K of HAM.

Well, thanks again Waivveen for the pets and making this test possible. And hopefully see you in game soon.

I would have to agree. Intimidate/Stun is one of the best combinations out there. I always use at least one pet with this combination, often in conjunction with a Dizzy/Cripple pet for NPCs.

Well, I just wanted to get evryone's opinion on what they thought was better. I made 2 level 60 pets for a guy who wanted "something in between level 50 and 70 with 60%kinetic, Armor, 13k HAM and intimidate as one special." He is a MCH who is very interested in the process of pet making and what goes into it. During the process of making these two monsters for him, we began to discuss different things like the differences that a few percentages in resists mean for HAM loss and what specials do what. I was trying really hard to get a blinding strike/intimidate special for both pets since it has been much discussed as probably the best combo. He told me to make one blind/intim and one stun/intim and he would use them and record the results.

I haven't seen the results, but he told me that he preferred the stun/intim over the blind. It seemed that the blind worked OK against NPC types, but it didn't make a difference when fighting creatures. I am waiting for the guy to send me the numbers that he gathered, but he ordered another of the same type of pet with Stun/Intim for a friend since he liked his so much. Has anyone else done tests like this recently? I mean, yeah, you can look up what the specials do, but there are so many broken specials for PC professions, is having a pet special not do entirely what it's supposed to do beyond the realm of possibility? So just having a statement on what a special does is no guarentee that's what it'll do.

Just wanted to know if there are others out there who have noticed this, or even if you have noticed this as a recent phenominon. When I get a chance to get in game for more than 30 seconds, I'll see if he sent me the results of his tests and I'll try to post them too. I'm kinda busy right now with RL stuff, but his observations made me wonder since everyone has always spoken so highly of the blind/intim special combo.

Heya, Kepp, didn't know you frequented the boards. Well, it seems that stun/intim is a kick butt special. I'm currently in the process of making an intim/stun level 10 pet as well. Unfortunately, the system seems to get picky and about 50% of the time one special or the other will dominate and leave the pet with one special only.... I think I've figured it to putting sevorrt in aggression for the intimidate at VHQ and Scorched krevol in Mental and Psych at HQ to get the specials to come through almost 75% ofthe time. Should I be worried about the pets only doing 75 dmg as a maximum? If I even put one point into aggression, even if I don't experiemnt on anything else it always goes to level 11...

Blind works great for me, but i use it in conjunction with Int, and my boy stun (I named him Stun, because some how I got both specials to be stun) They work awsome, I was with out a combat skill (including novice) for a couple months, and these guys were able to take down a single enraged Rancor by themselves if it came to it.

I moved to Corellia I have no vendor and I don't know the coords to my house, but it doesn't really matter cause all my pets are in the tool box, I may have some in space, but that doesn't really concern you either.

Just a thought but you might want to put some of the narglatches (female narglatch/guardian narglatch) in the fifth slot. Provided its VHQ or, normally, HQ both the stun and intimidate specials will stick.
