I'm wondering though...is it doctored or an actual screenie of an exploit?

Maybe somebody here can help me:
The Chef in question blacked out the serial numbers on the +544 brandy, because he wants to keep it a "secret" what the "Secret Research Data" is.
Are serial numbers some kind of formula that allows you to figure out what went into the item? I don't understand why keeping the serial numbers secret would help here.

Aren't serials just a random number?
How would somebody know anything about what the secret disk is by looking at the serial number?
It's an impressive find, of course, but I'm a bit confused about how that information would help anyone.
For example, knowing that "Acklay bones" were used to make a super stun baton wouldn't benefit anyone who didn't actually have the bones.

No, apparently they are a code and if the serial number had not been blacked out, then CSRs would go to the spot where the "Secret Research Data" came from and get it for themselves.

I was wondering the same thing.
It's really hard to tell. The serial number blackout was done before the image was resized, and the balckout did get resized differently as if it was originally done at a different resolution than the screencap. Unfortunately when an image is resized using a bad graphics tool then the end quality is sufficient to cover most good editing. So, it still could be a hoax. I didn't see any graphics program ID's in the image though, so it could be the guy just doesn't know anything about digital imaging and is just using what came with his computer.
After reviewing the pic in compressed and uncompressed forms, I'm leaning towards the "doesn't know anything about graphics" answer.
In short it looks like the image is legit.
How he got the numbers is still up for debate.

I was going to have another look into the pic he posted (the fours still look hinky to me), when Tiggs settled the matter.
