Thread: What's the best BE profession combos?
Petstim specialist - BE/Doctor
Clone salesmen specialist - BE/CH
Clone crafting specialist - BE/Ranger
Enhancement specialist - BE/Tailor
BESales specialist - BE/Merchant
The fact is that there isn't a Bio-engineer specialist since you can never get enough skills, you can focus on a certain role within BE but never have something to compliment them all. Thats the beauty of the profession system, enough to be good at something but not everything.
you can actually get some triple specialty BE's...for example, you can be a Mater Bio-Engineer, Master Tailor, and max out the vendor tree for Merchant. So you can make the clothes with your own tissues, and sell them on your own vendor. You can also stock your vendors with raw tissues, and pets/mounts that you've made. All in all, not too shabby. Myself, I'm going for Master BE/Master Ranger, and was planning to just max out the Empathy tree for CH, but it seems I'm going to fall a point short
Get one of those skill point calculators, or go to one of the many swg fan sites that have online ones, and see for yourself all the possibilites.
Look around the forum, there are several other discussions about this that might help you decide also.
Tell me, are all of you BE's also Artisans that harvest your own resources? I spent the better part of the last month working up the 30000 xp making Pet Stims and Vitality packs to get to Tissues II so I could make Pet Stim B's only to find that Talusian Vegetable Fungus isn't available anywhere on the Flurry server. Only people that have some are BE's that have harvested it themselves.
If you're looking anywhere other than Talus you're wasting your efforts. I don't think I've ever seen therenot be fungus on Talus.
Pretty much no matter what I do, I end up wanting to make things. To make things, you need resources. To get resources decently, you need Survey 4. So, yeah, I pretty much have Surveyor no matter what.
If I had to, I could sell things out of my pack and on the Bazzar, but not if I don't have any resources to make them with.
I also don't think I could stay sane if I couldn't harvest my own creature resources. Yes, I buy them in bulk when I can, but being able to get small quantities, at least to see what I want to look for or make an order for in bulk, is pretty necessary for my peace of mind. Then that means that I need some kind of combat skill. Right now I'm using a pistol, but I'm trying out swords with my baby musico on Chimeara and wheeee! that's fun! It doesn't really matter what combat skill you take, I guess whatever amuses you and fits your playstyle most.
I know on Starsider there are folks who specialize in resource acquisitions.
Maybe if you post on the Flurry board that you need to contract a Surveyor to show you where to place a harvester for Talusian Fungi, or a supplier of same? If you want to mess with a harvester, I recommend getting a medium. But if you don't have Surveyor skills yourself, it might be easier to just find someone you can pay to mess with that and supply you. Doctor med resource suppliers need to gather Talusian water anyway, if you can find someone who already harvests that, it wouldn't be too hard to get fungi on the same trip.
I just like being able to get my own stuff. I'm weird.
On Sunrunner, I'm currently a Master Artisan and working my way to BE Master, I'm currently 3,1,3,2. I'mprobably goingto drop my Artisan line (which I wish I didn't have to) to pick up CH, while keeping some of my medic and Pistol 4. I'll probably only keep survey since it's handy for finding Flora.
As I'm progressing I'm not finding the Artisan line to be that helpful, since anything I'm crafting doesn't fall into that line, with the exception of small harvestors, and it doesn't seem worth it to keepMaster Artisan if all I'm going to use it for is make small harvestors. If you think about it, some people sell these small harvestors on the Bazaar for 500-1000cr each, and you don't need to carry around all the ore, steel and metal to make them yourself.
The reason why I chose CH is so I can tame and use the creatures I make, since I feel so lame in combat with my FWG pistol, and I'm hunting with all these guys with Graul Maulers and other death dealing creatures. Plus there does seem to bea decent market for creatures.
