Thread: Good news: Looks like vehicles are hopeless on rough terrain

Some early word in from the TC is showing that while vehicles might be faster they really drop to a crawl when going over rough terrain, this makes alot of sense fictionally since the empire developed the AT-ST and AT-AT to overcome the limitations of repulsorlife vehicles had with uneven terrain. Basically this means that for the more rugged planets such as Dathomir a vehicle is pretty much useless for getting from point A to point B. A mount would be alot more effective because they can cope so much better with uneven surfaces.

It would seem the devs did actually put some thought into this.

Nice! Let's hope this pans out to be true in production!

A question: How does mask scent work with vehicles? It may be moot if vehicles are very fast, but interesting anyway.

Vehicle: Bio-Engineer: DNA Sample: Incorrect message appears when attempting to Sample DNA from a vehicle (B)

Darn it. How am I supposed to build a rocket-propelled jax if you can't sample DNA from a vehicle?

I'm not a BE, just lurking here because I'm psyched about the new cloning system and looking forward to custom made pets. But I expect that even if I get a vehicle, I'll keep my mount (and probably buy a best-of-breed BE one) since

  • You can repair (heal) a mount in the field whereas vehicles will aparrently depend on city garages.
  • Mounts have the general pet immortality, vehicles can apparently explode.
  • Mounts don't suffer collision damage
  • Mounts will probably be better when you want things to spawn around you.
  • Vehicles can't follow you after you dismount.
  • A vehicle won't hold off attackers when you've been dizzied.

So I see an ongoing market for mounts. And I'd like to believe that, with the changes to the CH tree, BEd pets will be in demand by all the pet users below near-Master CH, since only high level CHs will be able to get competitive pets from the wild.

Sorry, but terrain navigation limitations are easily avoided. People are not going to run to mounts to navigate Dathomir. It is called zig-zagging.

Well, I'm glad there will still be a use for mounts for sure. I was a little put off, to be honest, when I found out that vehicle making is going on the top branch in a basic profession when mount training went live on the top of an advanced profession.

Yea, seems they have problems... they're giving the wrong message when you try to sample dna from them.
