Thread: Mutant Rancor locations
I am looking mutant rancors and cant seem to find them.
Can anyone help me out?
Thx in advance!

They seem to be quite rare. I have found lots of Rancors, Youths, Bulls, Ancients (or whatever they are called)... But mutants, not a one.
Bull rancors, yes. Enraged and Ancient, no. Well, I haven't even tried since the patch but you couldn't before.
Forgot to mention that I used to sample Mutant Rancors like mad before the patch. They're much more difficult to get samples from now.
Just got slainby the enraged. But the bull, youth and regularseem to be ok. Havent seen any ancient yet.

I don't sample bulls anymore, mutants are less risk. If a bull get his plague strike attack off on you count on a black HAM bar by the time you can make it back to the outpost. Unless you are buffed.. then count on aLONG incap if you buffs wear off and you have more wounds then health.
The biggest timesink in sampleing mutants is waiting for them to stop killing each other after on of them uses an AOE attack.
Ok So i found the mother load, and thought that I would go home with a backpack full of dna, but I only got 1 sample there. I have 2 backpacks, and the "inner" back pack had 15 samples in it before I got the last one and gave up.
I have sampled till my inner pack was full before, and about 6 in the other pack.
It seemed like everything there went aggro on me no matter how I approached. Even crawled in from 90 meters out.
I saw every type of rancor there except for the ancient. Mutant, bull, enraged/bull, enraged scout and regular.
Is it possible that a location can be all aggro at once? This was all in a 4 hour time span, never left the planet.

should I be able to sample enraged rancors at Master BE? tried about 20 times this morning and not a single success.
Re: the folks who are having problems getting up close and personal with the higher CL mobs, I know its hardly brain sugery, but I always try and keep my scouting XP low (by dropping and retraining) then you get a visual cue that maskscent has worked when the scouting XP message appears, rather than just crawling upto them and hoping.
Yesterday on Dath, using this method I had a great time with rancors, no crawling for me, i was driving right upto them in my speeder, getting out, sampling, getting in the speeder and driving off if any aggro ocurred. I would spot, say, a rancor lair with 2 bulls and 1 vanilla rancor outside, then as soon as i got the third message for scouting XP, I just drove straight upto them, no hassle, got about 50 bull and normal rancor samples in 2 hours.
