So, what advice do you all have? I'm really not interested in getting a FS character, but I'll pick up Novice BE to see what it's like.

Is Novice really worth the skill points? I'm running low as it is, heh, and I couldn't see any spectacularly good stuff in the Novice BE skill description. What's a Novice BE able to sample?

Unless you plan to Master for the Holo..why stray from you're planned template? If you do plan to master for the Holo, there is a sticky guide for you folks at the tops of this forum.

FYI - Novice can sample anything a master can but the samples willl be of much lower quality and you have a far less chance of success on high end mobs. Decent pets have been created using Pickets and Bols from Dantooine whichare both suitable for Novice sampling since they are non-aggroes. Good luck.

BE is one of the most painful roads in all of SWG. We cannot rely on a harvester in order to make master, unlike many of the other elite crafting professions (chef excluded)

If you are not going to take the road to master, novice might bea waste of your skill points.

The flipside of it is.. you can always untrain.

What are you talking about? 3/4 trees of BE are based on crafting...which requires harvestors. I myself have to master BE for my holocron, and harvesting flora is helping me cruise along. This profession is one of the easier to grind through, all I need is the resources. Sure the DNA sampling tree will get a little tougher, but one tought tree is better than four.

You can't harvest meat with a harvestor man.
