Thread: DNA Quality
Haven't seen this posted up previously and thought I would open the floor to the debatable topic of DNA quality. Originally I was going off of what I had originally read previously on these forums, that DNA quality would have an impact on the eventual CL. But my personal testing is showing something entirely different.
I've noticed that HQ genetic templates tend to get an extra 2% in all resists, and sometimes some minor bonuses to damage, speed, etc. VHQ genetic templates have been pretty consistently passing along an extra 3% or 4%, likewise see an small bonus to attack spd, tohit, et cetera on the finished creature.
Most MBE's can attest, AA samples can have just as high(or higher) attribute pairs as HQ or VHQ, though the latter do more frequently get higher results.. exceptions are not terribly uncommon. I've made samples from single creature sets where the AA sample and VHQ had the same successes during combination yet the AA creature came out higher level. Then I started focusing on DNA quality and attribute pairs. The VHQ samples don't appear to actually add to the CL either, as I've made creatures with as similar attributes as I could manage, same successes for experimentation, and get the same end result cl but the VHQ will be slightly better down the board. Could just be observation error.. it's happened a lot, but due to the difficulty of getting really similar attribute pairs on DNA of varying quality, I'm not entirely convinced yet. Will start keeping better notes(loose leaf all over my desk!) over the next few days.
Anyone else doing tests on trying to match creature DNA with similar attributes in sets of varying quality seeing the same thing? Ie. Try to get 5 samples of AA DNA, make a template and then creature, then do the same for HQ or VHQ with as close a match in attributes to the AA samples as possible.
Anotherpotential discovery - special protections don't appear to benefit from physical experimentation. Normal effectiveness always gets the +10% for 2 experiment points but the specials(and vulnerabilities) don't appear to benefit from it at all. I haven't looked at this too closely yet, but this is just a trend I've noticed during my combines thus far.
Cheers!
