Thread: Rancor Results

I'd read the Fallen Master post, about using high-level DNA for high-level clones. I did an experiment, crafting one rancor from junk DNA and another from mantigrue screecher DNA.

The junk rancor had 10K HAM and damage in the 650 range. The high-level rancor had 12K HAM and damage in the 570 range. Both had pretty much the same speed and hit values, and both used the same experimental boots in both template and creature crafting, and used the same meat and floral resources.

I realize two isn't exactly a large sample size, but I found it interesting I had higher damage with junk DNA, and higher HAM with high-level DNA. I presented both choices to the customer, who opted for the rancor with the higher HAM. This is my standard practice, BTW, to have 2-3 options for the customer to choose. When one sells, I make a replacement.

IF you read his post carefully you will notice that the last to sets of stats on the DNA samples don't need to be high level. Your first rancor probably had better numbers in aggression then the numbers in your junk DNA for the second. you only need 3 high level samples (higher or equal to the level of pet being made) per clone. The last 2 (phycology and aggression) can be filled with junk DNA and it will have the same effect.

I sample tons of low level critters and save all the samples with over 1700 in the last two pairs. The rest I make blurrg's out of (I believe they are about CL 60) since you can't sample the Kimo's any more, and you can make blurug templates without a station so you can compress your DNA samples into blurgg templates in the field.

I'd forgotten about the psychology and aggression profiles. That was a waste of high-level DNA.

Do you find the cloned Blurgg DNA works better than the cloned Rancor or Gurrek DNA?

I'd guess they'd work the same. Gurreck, rancor and blurrg are all CL 50 critters. It's an interesting point. I'll have to give it a try. Once decay shows up, I'm not gonna want to continue trying to collect aggro DNA from Endor or Dath.

Yeah, the drawback to a corpse run -- getting close enough to successfully loot it without leaving behind a pile of dead clones.
