Thread: Can animals be made in a factory?

A friend of mine wants a crate of spats. I have never tried to run a factory crate of animals before (it never crossed my mind). Anyone tried or have any experience with this?

Thanks

DNA samples are not identical. Therefore you can't make crates of templates, which in turn means you can't make crates of pet deeds.

that was my thoughts also, but if you made the spat templates by hand, then put the templates and flora in the factory just to make the final animal, would that work?

Actually if you make a Template and then choose "make manufacturing schematic" You'll see thtat in your datapad the template only asks for a certain quality of DNA (not specific DNA with particular stats). Say you made your template with 3 VHQ and 2 HQ samples, the end template schematic you would get would list ingredient requirements as 3 VHQ and 2 HQ. This is because our DNA samples DO NOT have serial numbers and thus can't be tracked or indentified by any other means except for there quality.

However, the answer to the original question is NO. Unfortunately, to my knowledge, there are no factories that accept creature schematics. Course I've only tried one so far (food/chem) since that is all I have access to, so it is possible the others may accept them. (testing anyone ).

In the long term, the answer MAY be YES, but as of right now: NO.

In the long term look at the logic here. Just because it asks for a specific named item doesn't mean it'll work, factory made items are identical when produced however it's next to impossible to get dna which is exactly the same stats (i'm talking without the multi-click glitch here). Same name, different item.

No, this is not possible at the moment, and I don't think it will be available in the long term either. For this to be doable we'd need to be able to create crates oftemplates. To do that we'd have to have DNA with the same numbers in each slot in every template. Getting duplicate samples in the field is pretty much impossible, so we'd need to be able to duplicate DNA samples in the lab using cloning techniques. That would effectively kill sampling. BE's would only sample until they got the ellusive 1000 for a pair of attributes and then clone the heck out of it. Once they had one for each attribute pair they'd never have to go out in the field again.

Creating duplicate samples in the lab could be an interesting MBE skill, but we'd still have the problem of someone eventually sampling/duplicating their way to the perfect pet. There'd need to be some sort of limitation to the viability of DNA samples.

This is actually a pretty good idea, so I think I'll open up another thread for discussion.
