I am thinking about going Master BioEngineer, Master Creature Handler and was curious as to after this new patch on Test Center if I would be able to hold my own with just novice level pistoleer. I was also curious as too what kind of other skills you guys took with Bioengineer.

Thnx

I'm an MCH going MBE, and my only weapons skill is Pistol Specialist. I wanted to put more skills into medic than weapons. With my two Crimson Razor Cats out, I can very carefullysolo Piket lairs on Dantooine and can survive aggro samples. Of course I choose Pikets because they don't DB.

I'm MCH/MBE with Novice Ranger and tracking 1. No guns at all. Yesterday I soloed a CL 135 Blurrg Raptor on Endor with 2 Graul Maulers. Both Maulers lost 1/4 to health when it was over and I didn't use a single pet stim during the battle.

The new CH changes are going to make the CHmore of a challenge(no more 2 mauler combo) but with the ability to make your own pet stims you can just keep their health up. With no weapon the battle just takes longer. And being a BE will let you tweak your combos so that you have the specials you need for different situations. I imagine every combo will include knockdown in it in case you draw the agro.

Ask this same question after the patch. I'm looking forward to the changes in both BE and CH.

Two CL30ish critters taking down a CL135 mob. Geee, i wonder why the devs created a new CL rating system and utterly nerf'd the Graul Maulers

You might also consider getting some surveying skills, (mines at survey 2) just so you can find some resources. Also dont forget you will need at least business 3 at first so you can set up a vendor. BE must be the most difficult of the crafting professions in regard to skill points used, since we HAVE to have organic chem 4, and hunting 4 and Artisan if we want to survey for resources. But I guess thats an old gripe Oh and dont forget that you will need at least explore 4 on the scout tree if you dont want to keep getting aggroed when sampling. Dosent leave much for other skills. Here's what i'm thinking of:

Master BE
Pistols 3 (since if you are gonna dna sample high lvl mobs theres noway you can kill them solo) and i guess you can do away w/ combat all together if you wanted to
Master Scout
Wayfaring 4 and tracking 4 in ranger tree (better camo and burstrun and you can find what you are looking for)
Surveying 2 on artisan tree (for finding resources)
already had merchant(surrendered) so i have npc vendor
organic chem 4 in medic tree
This leaves you w/ 3 skill points. I suppose if you are Imperial you can get a couple of at-st to protect you.
