Since i work on a farm i can confirm, that even when we shoot a pig, it can still be milked..
Actualy the small pigs dont care if the mother dies, they still try to get something to eat from it...
So a bug? i guess not...

OK so tell me again why we cannot harvest meat/hide/bone from a sampled-to-death corpse? But we can get milk? huh?

you need to start milking before it dies from sampling for this to work. I was doing it last night to grind away some xp and collect some milk to grind later. Found out by accident that this was possible.
You need to fix your sig your streching the hell out of the forums

found out something intresting last night while sampeling pickets. I tried milking partway through the sample and the sample killd the picket. I'm here with the corpse at my feet and still geting the message "You continue to milk the creature" and "You suceed in gathering the milk" despite the fact that the criter was dead already. I guess combat or mask breaking or out of range is the only checks that stops milking it ignores death.
