Thread: DEV COMMENT in an interview, 10/30/2003!
Not much here I'll state right off the bat, however I found the one comment intriguing:
Kegyen:
I've always thought that a recently launched MMORPG's is like an infant when launched. Healthy and kicking if all went well, but it's true potential is yet to come. Star Wars Galaxies is a great game already, with so much more to come. Where do you envision this game going?
J. Allen Brack:
Excellent question. One of the most disappointing aspects of single player game development is that if a feature doesn't make the first release, it's never going to make it in. This game is considerably different. The development team has tons of ideas and players constantly send in new ideas to make the game better.
We've got a lot planed for the future. Player cities and mounts are currently on Testcenter, with vehicles coming out shortly after that. We are watching the numbers for Jedi and expect to see our first one any day now. We've made changes to both the Combat Medics and Bio-engineers, which should be coming out shortly. We are putting a plan together to add combat droids to the Droid Engineer profession.
So! With that said, it sounds like the creature fixes are almost in. Given that our correspondent abandoned us and we do not have a new one yet, this brings up 3 questions...
1) Is this complete and being tested internally?
2) Complete and actually on TC!? And if so any BE's there that could verify that?
3) And what in the world ARE the changes? What creatures were removed, what was added, does experimentation on them actually WORK now, etc.?
Inquiring minds want to know!

ok, but when?
See that's exactly the thing!
He talks like it will be in line with Combat Medic changes, and before Droid Engineer changes, which implies that it is already done. Combat Medic changes have been on TC for the last week - they were streamlined a bit and given the ability to heal mind damage. It SOUNDS like it is in testing.
I did try to post this yesturday but got that **edit** frustrating bug when the forum thinks your posting illegal HTML and you can't see where you need to change it. Anyway, look at Thunderhearts part3 post about creatures on the general discussion forum. Take a special note that someone asks if the devs know that non-ch's are limited to only two animals and they are bio-engineers... they then asked if bio-engineers can lower the CL rating of animals... to which TH replied. Yes, they will be able to lower the CL ratings of all their animals.
Like i said it practically blew me away, since they were talking about mounts and such this would seem to suggest the changes will go into the next monthly patch as planned. I only wish we'd had been told this and given a rough date for the publish since it's clearly going to be either the middle or the end of the month now.
For a recap on the TC situations:
The devs have fixed most of the bugs that made players crash into the desktop. The only real problem with mounts are the "bouncing" issues that cause you to bounce lag while on them because of the speed. Player cities have been pretty stable overall. I'd give the testing a few days more than a week. Not much left to test thoroughly besides the frustrating "city warn" command that is pesky. (they can hit you but u cant hit them)
If the devs plan on this clone engineering upgrade, they must push that into TC pretty soon, or else we'll have quite a few bugged creatures and crafting, or nothing. Where's the correspondent when you need 'em. . .
