After realizing I really suck at PvP, I have chosen to take up genetic engineering. Right.
I'm looking for suggestions on how to go about mastering this profession so I can make things people actually want. Suggestions about what people actually want are good too. And how I can make money. Also good. Thanks for the help.

agreed.
if you want to go master eventually, but want to start with tissues thats a good way to go. thatl will give you stim B's first which is a great way for a novice to make some cash. if you are more interested in selling tissues, jump up to tissue eng 3 of 4 before you finish eng tech so you can make some good money doing that.

As far as resources go, you'll need any meat and any flora for grinding with.
Once you reache Eng Tech IV, you'll need the following:
Talusian Fungus with good OQ, PE
Avian Bone with good OQ
Bone with good OQ
Scaley Hide with good OQ
flora structural (eg wood) with good OQ
Dathomirian Insect Meat with good OQ, PE
flowers, berries, all meats (except avian/herbivore) with good OQ, PE, flavor
fiberplast with good OQ, UT
Resources for Advanced Med Components (Tat Fiberplast, Lok Wild Wheat, Dantooine berries, Talusian Water and also maybe also Herbivore meat, Liquid Petro Class 4)
That should get you started.
