Thread: Loosing your test creature from sampling, grrr
Ok, I feel that even the Possibility of loosing your Creature from sampling the prototype should be done away with, totally. That is unfair and undue frustration and work for the BE.
I have an architect and when a structure goes Poof that is horrible--but this is way worse considering an Arch May have to go out around mobs to "Pick-up" resources and get back safely, BUT the BE goes through "H" just to get 5 little DNA samples. Then to have the whole thing just Disappear before your eyes.......???
Once the Prototype is made you should be able to get a sample off of it---that's just it---only fair. You put alot of time obtaining the samples for it, let alone the chances of dying, not getting samples, healing pets, etc. etc. So once you have Finally got it all together, in right slots and produced a Prototype, you should be able to sample that Prototype without fear of the Creature going POOF and disappearing (dying) with no sample to carry on with. That's just not acceptable at all.

Well, obviously it is me then. I just don't like taking those kinds of risks I guess. Some risk taking, like you said is exciting--but I never have been one to gamble everything on anything but a sure bet to win. So, I guess that means that now I have a new decision to make. ![]()
Thanks for your input though.

Far worse is when you make a great pet that you actually want to keep, want to sample its DNA once or twice for special or resists combos, and it dies the first time. Without giving the sample, lol.
Your suggestion would be bad. You would be able to make a great creature (or several) then never have to go back out into the wild again.
Technically, we ought to be able to clone DNA samples, or templates. But that would be very imbalancing also.
I rarely lose a clone without getting at least 1 sample from it.... though it is irritating when it happens. Its a balance thing though... you have to have risk, which is why I was so surprised when Architects got the zero-risk crit fail added (they don't lose resources if they crit fail... unless i misread the latest notes).
I"m assuming you mean that you would be gauranteed at LEAST 1 sample from a clone? For a short time we did have the ability to sample a tamed pet endlessly... hehe that was highly unbalanced. I average around 3 samples per clone before they poof now.... very similiar to sampling from wild critters.
What I would rather see is somekind of insurance vs crit fails. Wouldyou pay 5k credits to KNOW you weren't gonna crit fail (includes losing the deed from sampling). Would that be balanced? Would ithave to be 10k? or 20k? or 50k? Would be a new game mechanic and I"d rather they fixed the broken stuff first though
Crafting insurance would be a nice moneysink though.
The insurance thing could work, but I think it would have to be limited like pay 20-30k and one time every day you can avoid the evil crit fail. On that note there are a few to many crti fails now :/ I get ALOT of crit fails nowadays, that does get frustrating, especially if mutant rancor dna was involved.
I guess I got upset at the whole thing becausethe First creation I madewith anything substantial to it had like kenetic 3, energy 5 and acid 3, and was 1 in all the other resists, plus had 2 specials. Of course the HAM was very sad, hehe, but, I was just estatic that I had produced resists, "Kenetic"--yeah! and 2 specials ! So, when it went POOF from sampling attempt, I about died. Then this second try wasn't as good but it went poof too--both on first Sampling try---and the thought of doing it all over again was like--grrrr.
I don't really know how or what would be reasonable for this situation. I realize there has to be risks or the challenge isn't there. But, I guess, the shock of working so hard to get something, finally accomplishing that and then it just be gone was just so.......well you know.
However.....I got back in the saddle and sampled till I turned blue, ha. AND I did it!!! My First actual, bonifide, ALIVE animal, hehe. It's HAM was even better than that first one, it has 1 pt in All resists except acid is 4, no armor, vulnerable to stun still, only has 30-40 damage, but I did get 2 specials--and pretty good ones I think, Mild disease and poison, no ranged. So, yes, I'm very happy and I didn't even TRY to sample her, lol.
I agree right now with the person who says they are staying with the first generation clones for now. That last batch that I did really, really went downhill to the point of nothing just, almost. So....now that I have a "plan". I'm going to focus on doing theexact same thing I did with this Kaadu but with Higher and better quality samples and see what I get then--but 1st generation clones for now.
Feeling Much Better Now ![]()
