After grinding the DNA sampling tree and seeing that there isn't a guide in the forums. i decided to make one to help all those grinders out there to get this out of there way as this is the hardest and most annoying part of grinding this profession. ok so here is how i did it and i found it to be the fastest way.
Getting ready to grind:
1. you need novice BE (duh! if you didn't know this i feel sorry for you).
2. i would suggest getting 2,x,x,x in scout. i found it to be very useful and it might have and affect on the sampling but i have no hard
evidence to prove this, just expreience.
3. some combat skills. doesn't have to be master in something but some combat skill that you can use to protect yourself in case a
DNA sampling will go bad.
3A. armor, it doesn't have to be the best one but armor with some kinetic protection will help you a lot.
3B. money for buffs... you will need them.
4. some general info about animals and be sampling:
This is an approximation of the highest CL at each skill level:
Novice BE -> CL 12
DNA I -> CL 23
DNA II -> CL 34
DNA III -> CL 45
DNA IV -> CL 56
MBE -> CL 75
Grinding the DNA sampling tree:
Grinding to DNA sampling 1 - when you got no xp in DNA sampling. just a reminder you can't harvest anything big at this level. expect for a lot of unsuccessful samples. at this level the best thing that you can sample are gubbers for about 100xp each. this may take a few good hours but you will getit eventually. at this level you will be very frustrated i know i was...
Grinding to DNA sampling 2 - now you got the first box in this tree, so you think that sampling will get easer... well you are half right
. you still can't sample anything big but animals like gubbers will be much easier to sample and you will get much less unsuccessful samples. i would suggest sticking with sampling on corillea, you can try now sampling humbabas which give around 180xp each. you will spend around the same amount of time getting this skill as you spend on getting the previous one.
Grinding to DNA sampling 3 - now you are really progressing. at this level life really start to get easy. you get into a solo group (easy to find on dant in the minning outpost), get a buff and head down to lok. there you take missions of gurks which give you around 350xp per sample and they got big lair spawns; you can finish DNA sampling 3 in less then a buff round.
Grinding to DNA sampling 4 - well congrats you are almost done now, you got only 80k sampling xp between you and the end of this horrible grind. i found the easiest way to do this last part is by sampling longhorn pikets ondant. once again get into a solo group, get buffed and head out to sample those pikets, thye should give you around 350xp(for a female) to 470xp(for a piket longhorn). it will take your once again less then a buff round to complete this skill. your unsuccessful rate will be very low at this skill.
more info about the creatures in this game is available here: www.swgcreatures.com
any tips, comments, ideas to improve this guide will be very helpful, tnks
. i will add some more info very soon
P.S.

Nice guide. "What should I sample now you just trained me?" is a question I get a lot. However...
> only 80k sampling xp between you and the end of this horrible grind
DNA sampling is fun. If you don't think so, just go and macro it. The DNA sampling grind is nothing compared to the tissues. Hehe I was 2040 at one time.

It's just HTML.

I thought I would add something too.
Instead of using the default macro, make your own that goes like this:
/sampleDNA ;
/pause 1 ;
/kneel ;
/peace
This makes it so if you get attacked even social animals wont join in. They wont til you hit back.
Kneeling helps sampling (Trust me, I was doing voritor dashers for xp at sampling 1 using /kneel)

Those DNA Sampling Limits seem a bit low. At Novice i could sample up to level 14 (kaadu males) and at DNA 1, up to level 28 (huurton matrons) Might be able to get dna from huurton huntresses (level 29) but I can't get close: they keep breaking my mask scent
(only exploration 2-i do have a mask scent shirt though)

Great post. I am sure this will be helpful to the new members of the BE community.

Thanks CoolDog. Grinders need all the help they can get.
When jedi profession grinding was in vogue I taught several people how to grind sampling. Using this method most were able to get sampling 4 in one night.
Preparations:
Brandy. You’re going to be using mind like mad so you might as well prepare for it. It’s nice to have 400+ brandy, but 2 shots of 200+ brandy work as well, and are a lot cheaper.
Muon Gold. Most people want to stack this with the brandy. It’s not needed, and the downer will slow you down in the long run. Carry this around incase you make a mistake and end up cloning. If your drink counter is still full, you can use this to get back in the game.
Stims. Good old stim B’s at whatever healing you can get them. Try for something over 400, but 350+ will work.
Buffs. You won’t need them. If you can get them for free or just want to be lazy you can do without the stims. I never wanted to take the time to search for a buff so I don’t use them.
Put away items that you don’t want to decay. That nice set of comp armor should be in a droid or house or safety deposit. Also tools decay even though they don’t show the condition level.
Sampling 101
Now it’s time to get to work.
Find something to sample.
To get the first box, sample any weak creature you can find. “Yard trash” around theed or moenia works fine. Sampling gubburs, as said before, is great. Gives you good xp.
Peace is your friend.
If you don’t have it as a hotkey put it there. Peace before you start to sample. This is very very important, especially so if you have some good combat skills. You don’t want to kill the critter with your rifle, you want to sample it. Make sure you have the little triangle next to your name before you start. When the critter attacks you won’t fight back. Simply go away. You don’t need to burst run or get on a bike, just move away in a straight line away from the critters lair or spawn point. If you don’t attack them they will leave you alone within 150m or so. Remember to run a straight line. If you circle around they won’t drop agro on you. When the creature stops attacking you (and the chase music goes away) hit peace again, and sample. Repeat until the creature is dead.
When you get to sampling 1 go to Lok. Yes Lok. Get two normal gurk missions, the one’s that pay 8000+ cred. You won’t need a group for this. The higher paying gurk missions spawn feral gurks and such that you don’t want to deal with. Make sure the missions are spaced 300-400m apart. Generally speaking getting them in the same direction will get you this spead. They MUST be at least 300m apart, and it’s best not have them farther than 500m apart. Closer might work, but it’s buggy. Farther and you risk the lair vanishing. Go to lair A and sample as shown above. Sample kill all the gurks, but don’t hit the lair. Now go to lair B and sample kill all the gurks you find there. Go back to lair A. Hey, what’s this, all the gurks are back again. Lairs reset if you go about 300m away and are gone for more than 45 seconds, and you don’t hit the lair. If you do hit the lair it might reset. I would give it a 60/40 chance. If you’re grinding why take the chance? You can bounce between the two gurk lairs all night long getting about 300xp per successful sample. If the lairs don’t reset, try walking between them. Usually sampling takes enough time for the lair to rest.
Other thoughts.
Buffs can help. Stims will work just as good. Musician buffs work wonders if you can get them.
You shouldn’t need armor. The encumbrance can kill you if you’re not careful, and you’re going to need all the mind you can get.
