Thread: Shell harvester questions

1. Is fish meat obtained with a shell harvester? If not how is it obtained and does it require in prerequisite skills like novice artisan or novice scout?

2. Do certain planets offer a better percentage of mollusks vs. crustacean? (want to collect mollusks btw.)

Or do larger bodies of water? I know this is kinda a survey question, but it seems smaller bodies of water offer more crustacean.

Thank you in advance.

You get fish meat from fishing. You don't need any skills to do so, but I think you need novice scout to deal with the resulting fish, and you need Survival 1 to get the bait to start with (unless you get it another way, and I doubt /medicalforage will do it). I think fishing gains Survival XP too...

Anyone can fish as long as they have a fishing rod. You get the rods from artisans. If you're serious about getting fish make sure the rod is in the high 90%.

Bug and insect bait are obtained through the scout forage. You will need some sort of bait to start out fishing. If you don't have forage you'll need to ask someone for bait.

When you catch a fish it goes into your inventory. You'll see a fish there. Click on it. You'll get a radial that has a filet option. Filet the fish. You'll be given an amount of fish meat that looks like all the other meat you have in your inventory. You'll also get chum bait which you can use to catch more fish. You'll even get a trophy of the fish you caught.

Many people use the trophies to set up "fish tanks" in their homes.

There are tricks to fishing. I remember someone putting together a guide in this forum a long time ago. It still applies so see if you can search for it. It's worth the effort.

It is the rangers guide to fishing it is very good, and gives many tips. Fishing still blows, but is much better when you have a general clue about what you are supposed to be doing.

On a side note, is anyone plannig to go up the FS Luck tree and hit the Lucky Depot?

I moved to Corellia I have no vendor and I don't know the coords to my house, but it doesn't really matter cause all my pets are in the tool box, I may have some in space, but that doesn't really concern you either.

Awesome tips: especiallythe 90% harvester as I used a 47% one if i remember-- didn't know quality was a factor. TY folks.

Also, I caught some fish about 6 months ago, but I never knew you could filet them. I think I have one fish that I didn't either give away or destroy. I will check to see if it can be fileted. Otherwise I guess it's a pre-nerf fish.

I definately plan to be LUCKy (actually wanted the level 4 titletobe choosable)-- I'd be (Kismet).Btw, what is the Lucky Depot?
